Berlebach ground spike with 3/8" UNC thread
Berlebach ground spike with 3/8" UNC thread for low-angle shots
If you want to get really close to the ground without setting up a bulky tripod, the Berlebach ground spike is a pleasantly straightforward solution. It is explicitly recommended for low-angle work and macro photography – exactly when centimeters matter and the viewing angle suddenly becomes exciting. You insert it into the ground, screw your accessories onto the 3/8" UNC thread, and everything stands more solidly than you would expect at first glance.
Sturdy stainless-steel rod, 250 mm length, 0.22 kg weight
The ground spike consists of a stainless-steel rod and has a length of 250 mm. That may sound matter-of-fact, but in practice it’s very helpful: enough reach to place it securely in soil, forest floor, or even between stones without it wobbling right away. At 0.22 kg it remains light enough for your backpack.
Detachable camera plate, flexible for camera and accessories
The camera plate is also cleverly designed: you can unscrew it from the stainless-steel rod. This not only makes the ground spike easier to transport, it also gives you flexibility when setting up, depending on how you currently need your setup. It’s the obvious choice for low-angle perspectives with the camera, of course. But it works just as well if you want to fix a small setup “on the ground” without a lot of tinkering.
As an additional ground stand for reflectors, flash units, and support arms
We like to think of the ground spike as an additional ground stand that you simply carry with you because it is so versatile. You can use it to support reflectors, position a flash unit close to the ground, or use support arms to fix plants, stabilize small subjects, or hold a background in place.
