BigLensCaps grip for Leica Q3 & Q3 43 with integrated quick-release profile
BigLensCaps grip for Leica Q3 & Q3 43, more control, more composure in your images
Out and about with the Leica Q3 or Q3 43 and feeling the camera could sit just a bit better in your hand? That’s exactly where the BigLensCaps grip for Leica Q3 & Q3 43 with integrated quick-release profile comes in. It not only turns your camera into a much more secure tool to hold, it also brings a few very well thought-out extras that you only miss once you’ve had them.
Ergonomic support for Leica Q3 & Q3 43
From the very beginning, this grip was developed specifically for the Leica Q3 and Leica Q3 43 – not “kind of universal”, but truly made to fit. The shape is modelled so that your fingers intuitively find their place. Your middle finger rests on a gently rounded area, while your index finger naturally falls onto the shutter release. The underside is smooth and softly rounded so the grip sits comfortably in your palm, even when you’re out for longer periods.
We put a lot of emphasis on making the transition from carrying position to shooting position feel natural. If you use a Leica finger loop, you don’t have to rearrange your fingers; you can switch the camera from “carry” to “shoot” almost in passing. This way, the Q3 truly becomes an extension of your hand, not just a beautiful object in front of it.
Additional grip and stainless-steel finger loop socket
The grip gives your fingers noticeably more hold, especially when you work without a traditional camera strap or often handle the camera one-handed. The integrated socket for a Leica finger loop (finger loop not included) is anchored deep within the grip body and positioned so that it can’t accidentally slip out, even with hectic movements. The position of this socket is deliberately chosen so that the transition from carrying to shooting remains smooth, without you having to correct your hand position.
Hidden compartment for Apple AirTag
A special detail is the internal, concealed compartment for an Apple AirTag (not included). Inside, the AirTag sits on a padded base and is held in position so that nothing rattles or wobbles. Once mounted, it disappears completely inside the grip, with no visible indication that an AirTag is installed at all. For anyone who takes their Leica Q3 or Q3 43 on frequent trips, in the city, or to events, this is a pleasantly unobtrusive security feature.
ARCA-compatible quick-release profile integrated
On the underside, the BigLensCaps grip features an integrated Arca-style compatible dovetail profile. This profile is designed to fit 38 mm quick-release clamps that are specified by the manufacturer as Arca-style compatible. You can therefore place the camera directly into suitable quick-release clamps – no extra plate, no fiddling, no additional weight. For anyone who frequently switches between tripod and handheld shooting, this is a noticeable relief in everyday use.
Thanks to the integrated quick-release profile, the combination of Leica Q3 or Leica Q3 43 and grip remains pleasantly compact. You don’t have to constantly mount or remove an additional plate; everything is already integrated into the grip. This is especially practical when you want to react quickly on the go and still don’t want to forgo the stability of a tripod.
Unrestricted access to battery and memory card
Despite the massive gain in grip, access to the battery and memory card remains fully preserved. You can remove the battery or change the SD card without unscrewing the grip from the camera. Due to the special construction of the SD card door on the Leica Q3, you need to pull the card slightly spring-loaded out of the slot. The door sits very close to the grip’s mounting screw – almost “a hair’s breadth” away. That’s exactly why the geometry is chosen so that stability and accessibility are both ensured.
In practice, this means you can quickly swap the battery or change the memory card even during longer shoots or while travelling, without rebuilding your setup. The grip stays where it is, and you can focus on what’s happening in front of the lens.
High-performance polymer, stronger than aluminium
The grip is made from an ultra high-performance engineering polymer whose strength exceeds that of conventional aluminium. It is manufactured on professional industrial machines, not on some wobbly DIY setup. The result is a robust yet lightweight component weighing only 56 g, which behaves remarkably unobtrusively in everyday use. Light enough not to disturb the balance of the camera, yet solid enough to feel like a fixed part of the body.
Thanks to the material, the surface remains pleasant to the touch even at lower temperatures, unlike some metal grips that feel more like a piece of ice in winter. At the same time, the polymer is dimensioned to confidently withstand the stresses of daily use.
Tamper-resistant mounting with stainless-steel screw
For mounting on the Leica Q3 or Leica Q3 43, a high-quality stainless-steel screw with tamper-resistant Torx socket is used. A matching security T27 screwdriver bit is included, even if it’s not always visible in product photos. This type of mounting ensures that the grip reliably stays on the camera and doesn’t accidentally loosen when you frequently pick up, set down, or carry the camera in a backpack.
The construction is designed to be as torsion-resistant as possible so that the grip feels like an integral part of the camera body. No wobbling, no creaking, no “maybe it’s not quite tight”.
Thought-out interaction with Leica accessories
The BigLensCaps grip has been extensively tested on the Leica Q3 and Leica Q3 43, including in combination with original Leica accessories such as the finger loop and thumb rest. In this combination, the camera turns into a very comfortable tool that can be carried pleasantly and guided precisely over longer periods.
Together with the OEM finger loop, you can carry the camera securely on your hand and bring it into shooting position in a split second. In combination with a thumb rest, the Leica Q3 becomes a kind of “hand charmer” that feels almost like a natural extension of your hand. That was exactly the idea: when Leica talks about being a natural extension of your eyes, this grip adds the matching extension of your hand to that vision.
Unobtrusive design with clear function
Visually, the grip integrates discreetly into the design of the Leica Q3 and Q3 43 without pushing itself into the foreground. The lines follow the camera body so that the grip appears as a coherent component, not like an accessory bolted on afterwards. At the same time, every curve and edge has a functional reason: better support for your fingers, pleasant contact with your palm, secure hold even during longer sessions.
We don’t see this grip as a mere accessory, but as a functional enhancement that makes a noticeable difference in daily use. More control, more comfort, more security – without disturbing the typical Leica simplicity.
