Fotografiert man mit einer längeren und schwereren Brennweite (die über einen eigenen Stativanschluß verfügt) vom Stativ aus, ist es äußerst nützlich, dieses Objektiv zu unterstützen – aber zugleich auch die Kamera zusätzlich zu entlasten. Für letztere befindet sich am hinteren Ende der Objektivstütze eine einstellbare Kameraplatte mit ¼“-Schraube. Sie wird in das Stativgewinde oder in das 1/4" Gewinde der Kameraplatte oder Kamera geschraubt, dies reduziert die aufs Bajonett der Kamera einwirkende Zuglast.
Das Objektiv bzw. der Objektivfuß wird mit einer ¼“- oder einer 3/8“-Schraube auf der Schiene befestigt.
