If you often have to carry your tripod for a while, you don’t want to keep grabbing it differently, rebalancing it, putting it down again. The Leofoto LM tripod carrying strap is designed exactly for this kind of everyday use. It is made of tear-resistant nylon webbing, 31 mm wide and 1,400 mm long, so not too narrow and not unnecessarily bulky. And yes, it sits comfortably, even when it takes a bit longer.
At both ends you’ll find a QD 1 quick-release connector. On one end, the QD 1 is attached to a QDC tripod clamp, here in the matching 32 mm size. On the other end there is also a QD 1 quick-release connector, but combined with the QDM 2 special screw with 3/8" thread. This means the LM quick-release carrying strap fits tripods with a 3/8" UNC thread and a maximum leg diameter of 32 mm, 36 mm or 40 mm, depending on the version selected.
Material, dimensions, and what makes it practical
The strap is made of robust nylon, which you can feel as soon as you touch it. The 31 mm width gives the whole thing stability without making it feel like a climbing harness. The length of 1,400 mm is chosen so that you can comfortably carry the tripod over your shoulder without it constantly bumping against your hip. It’s the kind of detail you only miss when it’s not there.
The quick-release connectors are QD 1 and designed for fast attaching and detaching. No fiddly hooks, no messing around with carabiners. Click it in, start walking, done.
Mounting on the tripod: QDC clamp and 3/8" special screw
The setup is clearly structured and still not complicated. First you attach the QDC clamp to a leg segment of your tripod. In this version, the clamp is designed for 32 mm, i.e. for the thickest leg diameter of that size. Then you screw the QDM 2 special screw with 3/8" thread into the 3/8" thread located on the side below the tripod plate. Exactly where many tripods have this additional threaded hole.
Once both attachment points are in place, you connect the two QD 1 quick-release connectors to their respective counterparts. This works directly; you can clearly feel it click into place. To release it, simply press the buttons labeled “Push” on the QD 1 quick-release connectors, and the strap is detached from the tripod again. Quick, clean, without having to loosen any screws first.
Choosing the right size: 32 mm, 36 mm or 40 mm
The strap for the 3/8" UNC thread in the tripod shoulder is available in different sizes. It’s important that you determine the correct size based on the thickest diameter of your tripod leg. It’s best to measure briefly rather than guess, otherwise it simply won’t sit properly.
