Leofoto tripod carrying strap LS for 1/4" UNC thread and 32 mm tripod collar
Leofoto tripod carrying strap LS for 1/4" UNC thread and 32 mm tripod clamp
If you often have to carry your tripod a bit, a good strap isn’t a luxury, it’s simply practical. The Leofoto LS tripod carrying strap is made exactly for this and fits tripods with a 1/4" UNC thread in the tripod shoulder and a tripod clamp for a 32 mm leg diameter. The strap itself is made of woven nylon webbing, 31 mm wide and 1.40 m long, so it feels comfortable in your hand and on your shoulder without being bulky.
And yes, at first it sounds like “just a strap”. In practice, however, it makes a difference how quickly you can click it on and off and how securely everything sits.
Material, dimensions and construction of the carrying strap
Leofoto uses a robust woven nylon webbing here. The 31 mm width distributes the weight noticeably better than what you know from narrow straps, and with a length of 1.40 m you have enough leeway to carry the tripod comfortably over your shoulder or across your body. Not complicated, not delicate.
There is a QD 1 quick-release fastener at each end. That’s the core of the matter, because you don’t have to re-thread or awkwardly undo the strap every time. Once mounted, the base stays on the tripod, and the strap docks on and off whenever you want.
QD 1 quick-release fasteners with QDC 32 mm tripod clamp and QDM 1 special screw
At one end of the strap, the QD 1 quick-release fastener is equipped with a QDC tripod clamp, here in the 32 mm version. This clamp is attached to a leg segment of your tripod. What really matters here is the thickest leg diameter, not some segment further down. For this product, the clamp is designed for 32 mm.
At the other end there is also a QD 1 quick-release fastener, but combined there with the QDM 1 special screw with 1/4" thread. This screw is screwed into the 1/4" thread located on the side below the tripod plate. This detail is often overlooked, yet it is the second fixed mounting point that makes carrying stable.
Mounting on the tripod and quick docking
Mounting is pleasantly straightforward. First you attach the QDC clamp to a leg segment. Then you screw the QDM 1 special screw with 1/4" into the 1/4" thread located on the side below the tripod plate. Once both mounting elements are installed, you can dock the QD 1 quick-release fasteners at the strap ends to both points without further effort. Click, done.
To release, press the buttons marked “Push” on the QD 1 quick-release fasteners, and the strap is detached from the tripod again. This is quick, even if you are wearing gloves or simply need to move fast. Not perfect in every situation, of course, but pretty convincing in everyday use.
Size note: correctly determining the thickest tripod leg diameter
The Leofoto LS quick-release carrying strap for the 1/4" UNC thread in the tripod shoulder is available in various sizes. For this product, the 32 mm tripod clamp applies. Please determine the correct size in advance based on the thickest tripod leg so that the clamp fits properly and does not slip or sit too tight.
- 28 mm
- 32 mm
- 36 mm
So if your tripod has 32 mm at the thickest leg segment and you use a 1/4" UNC thread in the tripod shoulder, this version is the right combination. This keeps the setup consistent and you get the carrying strap exactly as intended.
