Wimberley quick-release clamps use the 38 mm Dovetail geometry. They accept Wimberley quick-release plates as well as 38 mm Dovetail style plates made by other manufacturers.
The C-30 clamp was made specifically for the old-style Wimberley Head™ (WH-100 & WH-101). It is 4.1 long and attaches with two 3/8 stainless steel screws. The Wimberley Head Version II™ (WH-200) has a built-in quick-release clamp, eliminating the need for the C-30.
The added length of the C-30 (1.6 longer than the C-10) provides little added functionality for most applications. We recommend using the lighter and less expensive C-10 clamp.
Features:
Tongue-in-pocket Design: Wimberley clamps have a unique tongue-in-pocket design that protects internal parts from dust and grit. The tongues are nearly twice as long as those on conventional 38 mm Dovetail style clamps. This added length counteracts the tendency of the moving jaw of the clamp to hinge backward during clamping, thus keeping the jaws aligned with the geometry of the plate and eliminating unwanted bending stress on the threaded stud. Captive Knob: There is a stop screw located on the end of the stud. This screw keeps the knob and internal workings of the clamp captive. Safety Channels: Two shallow channels extend from the sides of the clamp and stop just short of the central tapped hole. These channels allow greater fore-aft adjustment when using the safety stops on Wimberley and other 38 mm Dovetail quick-release plates (pg. 11).
