If you prefer to work with the 38 mm dovetail quick-release standard on your Sachtler fluid head, this replacement bridge is designed exactly for that. It is a custom-made part to replace the original Sachtler bridge including the coupling unit. The Berlebach 320269/S has been tailor-made for the specified Sachtler models and cleanly adapts the referenced Sachtler fluid heads to the 38 mm clamp profile, without you having to resort to additional intermediate solutions.
The 38 mm profile is simply widespread in the telephoto range because it has proven itself. This way your telephoto lens, provided it has a suitable quick-release plate or a replacement foot with a 38 mm dovetail, can go directly onto the modified Sachtler head. No rethinking on set, no improvised combination of multiple couplings that in the end again builds higher than necessary.
Directly on 38 mm dovetail, without piggyback mounting
The integrated prism base plate with coupling saves weight, remains delicate and has a low profile. That is exactly the point: you avoid the otherwise often necessary piggyback mounting of an additional coupling on the original bridge just to be able to use the 38 mm quick-release standard at all. Instead, the solution sits where it belongs, as a replacement for the original bridge unit of the referenced Sachtler fluid heads.
The clamp works as a screw clamp and, with a jaw length of 9.0 cm, offers a solid support. With a width of 13.0 cm, a length of 9.8 cm and a height of only 1.7 cm, the whole unit remains pleasantly compact, especially when you are working with long focal lengths and a tight setup. The replacement bridge is made of aluminum and black anodized, therefore robust and unobtrusive, just as you want professional accessories to be.
Clamp compatibility, ARCA compatible and designed for practical use
The coupling is designed for a 38 mm dovetail and accepts, among others, profiles such as Flexshooter 38 mm dovetail, Leofoto dovetail, Berlebach dovetail, Really Right Stuff dovetail, Wimberley dovetail, Pro Media Gear dovetail, Kirk dovetail as well as classic 38 mm dovetail couplings. In addition, according to the manufacturer it is ARCA compatible, which often gives you the crucial leeway when using existing plates and feet.
A tubular level is also integrated. That may sound unspectacular, but in everyday use it is simply practical, because you can level the head accurately more quickly without having to “guess” for a long time.
Mounting on Sachtler, including screws and important note
The mounting is designed so that you screw down from above and use the 4 original screws from Sachtler for this. In addition, we include 4 x M4 x 10 cylinder screws so that you are not suddenly slowed down during conversion because of a small detail.
Important, please read briefly: If, after installation, the locking screw for blocking the tilt function no longer works, use the shorter supplied screw at this position. This is not a big deal, more of a typical practical case that you are happy to know about in advance.
Secure hold for telephoto photography, with safety stop screw
The solution is explicitly recommended for telephoto photography, i.e. where weight, leverage and balance really matter. The replacement bridge weighs 289 g and thus remains pleasantly light without feeling “toy-like”.
For additional safety, a safety stop screw is provided; there are also receptacles and stops for safety stop screws. These safety stop screws prevent your plate from accidentally sliding out of the quick-release coupling when the clamp is loosened, for example if, in the heat of the moment, you loosen it too quickly or the combination is slightly tilted.
