For the Nikon 500mm f/4E FL ED VR AF-S NIKKOR, this version is custom-made and does not fit any other lens models. The padded neoprene elements ensure a snug fit, provide premium protection for your lens, and help to keep the surface safe from impacts and scratches. At the same time, the protection is beneficial for resale value, because signs of use in tough outdoor conditions can be reduced. The technical specifications list neoprene as the material and explicitly state Digital Camo as the color/pattern.
Full operability in use
The segmented design to maintain full functionality of the lens ensures that controls remain accessible. Various transparent plastic windows are positioned over the focus switch and the distance scale so that important information and switch positions remain quickly visible. LensCoat also describes the design as having clear windows over the autofocus controls and the distance scale.
Insulating benefits in cold and harsh weather
In addition to mechanical protection, the neoprene provides an insulating function.
