The Leofoto AM-1L Magic Arm is a slim but surprisingly versatile accessory holder when you don’t want your accessories dangling somewhere, but instead want them neatly positioned. Whether smartphone, flash, microphone or other equipment, the whole thing can be attached to the tripod or any suitable mount, as long as a 1/4" UNC thread is available. And yes, that’s exactly what it’s made for: quickly mounted, flexibly aligned, and then it stays put.

The connection is especially practical: at the top and bottom you’ll find a 1/4" UNC male thread. This means the AM-1L fits into many common setups, from a Leofoto tripod to a small clamp on a rig. You screw it on, mount your accessory, done. No special adapter, no guesswork, just standard threads, exactly what you constantly need in everyday photo and video work.

Adjustable in four places so the alignment is really right

The longer version of the AM-1L is designed to position accessories on the tripod with a bit of distance so that nothing gets in the way. And because setups are rarely “straight”, the arm can be angled at four points. This lets you turn the universal thread pretty much exactly where you want it: on the side of the tripod leg, above the ball head, slightly downward—whatever makes sense at the moment. Sometimes you just need a few millimeters, sometimes a completely different angle, and that’s exactly where the AM-1L shows its strength.

Compact dimensions, low weight, yet loadable up to 1.5 kg

At 19 cm in length, the Magic Arm is pleasantly slim and remains easy to transport. The width is 3.7 cm, the height 2.0 cm, so it doesn’t take up much space in your backpack and, if necessary, will even disappear into a smaller bag. The weight is 98 g, so it’s barely noticeable when you simply pack it as a “just in case” item.

Nevertheless, it can handle loads of up to 1.5 kg. In practice, that’s enough for many typical combinations, such as a compact LED light, a microphone with mount, or a smartphone setup. Of course, with long levers it always depends on how you position it, but the load capacity is really solid for this design.

The Leofoto AM-1L is made of aluminum and stainless steel. That’s a good combination: light enough to stay mobile, and robust enough to withstand frequent mounting and unmounting as well as typical outdoor use.
