If you are taking pictures from a tripod with a longer and heavier focal length (which has its own tripod connection), it is extremely useful to support this lens - but at the same time to take some extra load off the camera. For the latter, there is an adjustable mount with ¼" screw at the rear end of the lens support. It is screwed into the 1/4" thread of the camera plate or camera, this reduces the tensile load acting on the bayonet of the camera.
The lens or the lens base can be fixed with a ¼" or a 3/8" screw.
This Lens Support rail is mounted directly on tripod heads instead of the existing plate.
The following plates are replaced by the rail:
- Sachtler Sideload Plate
- Sachtler Touch & Go Plate*
- Gitzo Type C
This means that even heavy camera-lens combinations can now be mounted on Sachtler tripod heads, e.g. FSB-6, FSB-8, FSB-10
Mount the FSB-6T, FSB-8T, FSB-10T or Manfrotto Video Panhead.
* here you have to use the adapter included in the delivery
