MR JAN GEAR bean bag cover bean bag
Simple and good! The MR JAN GEAR beanbag Cover Bean Bag at a glance
Sometimes you don’t need a high-tech tripod with countless knobs and levers. Sometimes a well-designed beanbag tripod is enough: you just put it down, place the camera on top, and you’re done. That’s exactly what the MR JAN GEAR beanbag Cover Bean Bag is made for: functional, robust, unobtrusive, and in everyday low-angle photography often far more practical than you might think beforehand.
The Cover beanbag is deliberately kept simple, but surprisingly versatile in use. You can place it on rocks, car roofs, window frames, tree trunks, or directly on the ground. The neutral camouflage surface blends subtly into the surroundings, which is a real plus, especially for nature and wildlife photography, when you don’t want to stand out from 100 meters away.
Beanbag with inlet, clever interior for more comfort
The MR JAN GEAR beanbag Cover Bean Bag comes with a separate mesh inner bag, i.e. an inlet, which makes handling much easier for you. This inlet is easy to fill, simple to clean, and dries quickly if the filling should ever get damp. So you don’t have to wash the entire beanbag or laboriously empty it, but instead work conveniently via the inner bag.
The beanbag is delivered unfilled so that you can decide for yourself which filling works best for you. For a stable yet flexible support, we recommend plastic granulate. Depending on the firmness and malleability you want, you’ll need roughly 1 to 2 kilograms of it. With this amount you’ll achieve a height of about 3 to 4 centimeters, naturally depending on how much you fill the beanbag and how firmly you press it into shape.
Low-angle photography, steady camera, sharp images
Especially when you need to get very close to the ground, the MR JAN GEAR beanbag really shows its strengths. For low-angle photography it’s almost a little insider tip, because it supports your camera stably without you having to set up a bulky tripod with fold-out legs. You simply place the beanbag on the surface, shape it briefly with your hands, and position your camera or telephoto lens on top.
The support surface of about 23 x 23 centimeters offers enough space for larger DSLR or mirrorless cameras with telephoto lenses, without the whole setup feeling bulky. Thanks to the flexible filling, the beanbag adapts to uneven surfaces—forest floor, gravel, car door, or rocks—providing a steady camera position. Ideal when you’re working with longer focal lengths or shooting in low light, where every tiny vibration would show up in the image.
Ideal for travel, lightweight, compact, and unobtrusive
If you travel a lot, you know the problem: the tripod is often the first thing that stays at home for weight reasons. An empty beanbag, on the other hand, weighs almost nothing. The MR JAN GEAR beanbag Cover Bean Bag weighs only about 100 grams unfilled, including the inlet. In a backpack, that’s practically unnoticeable.
When traveling, you can simply fold the beanbag tripod flat and stash it somewhere between your clothes or in your camera bag. On location, you then fill it, depending on the situation, with whatever material is available: plastic granulate, rice, beans, small plastic pellets, or, in a pinch, even sand in an additional bag. This way you remain maximally flexible and don’t have to carry the final weight with you from home.
Especially for nature photography, safari tours, road trips, or city breaks, this setup is very convenient: you have a stable support for your camera without having to lug around a conventional tripod. And when you don’t need it, the beanbag simply disappears back into your backpack without taking up much space.
Made in Europe, solid quality from Slovakia
The MR JAN GEAR beanbag Cover Bean Bag is manufactured in Slovakia, contributing to a transparent European supply chain. You can also see this in the choice of materials: it uses a water-repellent material mix of about 65 percent polyester and 35 percent cotton with a neutral camouflage print. This combination ensures robustness, a pleasant feel, and an unobtrusive look in the field.
The water-repellent surface helps prevent moisture from immediately penetrating the fabric. This is particularly practical with dew, wet grass, or light drizzle, as the beanbag doesn’t get soaked right away. Should the filling still become damp at some point, the separate mesh inner bag allows you to dry and clean everything again relatively quickly without having to dismantle the entire system.
We see this beanbag as a reliable, no-nonsense tool for photographers who value a stable, low-angle support without having to deal with complex technology. Just put it down, place the camera on top, compose your image, and focus on what really matters: the subject.
