Micro Groundpod Lever ground stand - lever coupling and 80 mm base plate

Micro Groundpod Lever floor tripod with lever coupling and 80 mm base plate

Ultimately small, yet surprisingly functional. The Micro Groundpod Lever is designed as a table tripod, floor tripod and mini tripod – exactly for situations where a normal three-legged tripod is simply too much or gets in the way. You set the camera down close to the ground, stay flexible in your composition, and still don’t have to lug around unnecessary bulk. At around 4.9 cm in height and about 180 g in weight, it fits into the side pocket and, yes, you almost forget it until you need it.

Especially if you like shooting from a low perspective, often work with long focal lengths, or don’t want to count every gram when traveling, this floor tripod really plays to its strengths. Panning, tracking, tilting – it all works pleasantly directly, without having to wrestle with sprawling legs or wobbly improvisations. It’s one of those pieces of kit you take along once and then somehow use all the time.

80 mm base plate with anti-slip pad and ball joint

The 80 mm base plate provides a wide, stable support surface, and the anti-slip pad made of thermoplastic elastomer ensures that the whole setup doesn’t start wandering off on smooth surfaces. The plate itself is made of glass-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic – lightweight but not delicate. On top of that, there’s the ball joint, which lets you align the camera precisely without having to fumble around on the ground – well, at least a lot less.

Mobility is also taken care of: you get 360° rotation and a tilt range of 40°. That may sound matter-of-fact, but in practice it’s exactly what you actually use for low-angle perspectives, telephoto work, and travel photography. No more, no less.

Lever clamp and Arca-style compatible quick-release coupling

A comfortable, lightweight lever clamp is built in as the quick-release coupling. According to the manufacturer, it accepts Arca-style compatible 38 mm dovetail profiles. If you use ARCA plates, this is the point where it simply clicks into place and sits. We’ve deliberately included the note on ARCA compatibility, because in everyday use that’s exactly what decides whether things go quickly or not.

Material mix, workmanship and assembly

For materials, the Groundpod relies on a practical mix of aluminum, stainless steel, glass-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic and rubber. The metal parts are black anodized, which not only looks good but also makes sense for rougher use. At 8.0 cm in width, everything stays compact, yet it doesn’t feel like a toy.

The tripod is delivered fully assembled. The screw connections are secured with thread locker so that nothing slowly rattles loose on the go. It’s one of those details you only really appreciate once you don’t have it.
