Really Right Stuff B76 universal plate

Really Right Stuff B76 universal plate, compact quick-release plate for your everyday photography

With the Really Right Stuff B76 universal plate, you add a small, surprisingly versatile quick-release plate to your setup that doesn’t push itself into the foreground but reliably does its job in the background. It can be clamped lengthwise, has a 38 mm dovetail profile, and can be used in many common quick-release clamps. In short: mount, align, tighten, and you’re good to go.

The B76 is deliberately kept compact and, with its adjustable 1/4 inch mounting screw, fits a whole range of cameras, telephoto lenses, and spotting scopes with tripod feet. Especially if you frequently switch between different bodies and optics, this universal design pays off. Nothing exotic, but a solid, practical universal plate that you simply carry with you and use.

Arca-style compatible, 38 mm dovetail for common quick-release systems

The Really Right Stuff B76 is ARCA compatible and thus designed for most Arca-style quick-release clamps with a 38 mm dovetail profile. For you, this means: you can use the plate in typical Arca-style compatible clamps and heads without needing special solutions or adapters.

Especially when frequently switching tripods, ball heads, gimbals, and video heads, it’s convenient when everything is based on a unified system. The B76 integrates unobtrusively but very consistently into an Arca-style compatible setup and ensures that your camera or lens is clamped cleanly and securely.

Made in the USA, precise manufacturing and robust materials

The B76 universal plate is made in the USA by Really Right Stuff, with the typical focus on precise machining and durable materials. We’re not talking about some no-name accessory here, but about a cleanly finished aluminum plate designed for continuous use.

The surface is black anodized, which not only looks good but also makes the plate more resistant to scratches and weather influences. In daily use, whether in the studio, in the forest, or anywhere between city park and coastal wind, the B76 remains reliable and dimensionally stable.

Adjustable 1/4" mounting screw, flexible adaptation to camera, lens, and spotting scope

A key detail of the Really Right Stuff B76 is the longitudinally adjustable 1/4 inch mounting screw. It can be moved within the plate so that you can optimally adapt the mounting point to your camera or lens. This is particularly helpful with longer lenses or spotting scopes to better balance the center of gravity over the tripod head.

Instead of having to commit to a fixed hole, you can fine-tune the position of the screw. That may sound unspectacular, but in everyday use it makes a noticeable difference when you, for example, switch back and forth between a compact body and a heavy telephoto lens.

Compatibility with Nikon, Olympus, Pentax Takumar, and Tamron

The B76 universal plate is designed so that it can be reliably mounted on many cameras and lenses with tripod feet.

This list is not complete, but it gives a good idea of the intended use: classic telephoto lenses, older but popular zooms, and cameras that are significantly more pleasant to handle on a tripod with a compact yet stable quick-release plate.

Anti-twist stop, stable fit without annoying rotation

To prevent your camera or lens from twisting on the plate, the Really Right Stuff B76 features an integrated anti-twist stop. This stop braces itself at the appropriate point on the camera base or lens foot and prevents the combination from slowly loosening or skewing under lateral load.

Especially with portrait orientation shots, with tilt in a gimbal, or with frequent mounting and dismounting, you’ll notice how pleasant it is when nothing slips or twists even slightly. The plate simply sits as it should and stays in that position.

Clamping profile and quick release for smooth workflows

The B76 is equipped with a 38 mm dovetail profile based on Arca-style compatible quick-release clamps. In practice, this means: you place the plate with mounted camera or optic into the clamp, tighten it, and the combination is ready for use in seconds.

For photographers who switch between handheld shooting, monopods, and tripods, or occasionally move from tripod to slider, this type of quick-release system has almost become standard. The B76 integrates seamlessly into such workflows and ensures that you spend less time fiddling with screws and more time on image composition.

Alternative recommendation for spotting scopes with smaller feet

For spotting scopes with particularly small feet, we recommend the Really Right Stuff B6 plate instead. It has a contact surface of 4.1 cm in length and 2.54 cm in width and therefore often fits better on more compact spotting scope feet.

So if your spotting scope has a very short or narrow foot, the B6 can in some cases be the more harmonious choice, while the B76 scores more with slightly larger feet and classic telephoto lenses.
