Shimoda Core Unit Large DV module insert for Shimoda backpack

Application and Format

The DV Core Unit is specially made for the Shimoda Action X70 backpack and DV Roller. The extra-large size is designed to carry and protect all the DV gear you need. With an additional depth of 20 cm, it is ideal for RED or similarly large cinema/video cameras as well as DSLRs with super-telephoto lenses.

Materials and Construction

Like all Shimoda inserts, it is made from our high-quality laminated EVA divider and side walls, a lightweight and versatile removable shell, and an aluminum frame that provides additional rigidity and support.

Storage Capacity in the System

The extra-large DV Core Unit maximizes storage space inside the X70 backpack and DV Roller.

This insert comes standard with a removable outer shell.

Features

  • Cine/DV camera fit – Accommodates larger cine cameras such as RED, Canon C300, Sony FS-7, etc. Thanks to the additional depth, it is also ideal for packing ready-to-shoot DSLR or mirrorless video setups, and it can even hold a DJI MAVIC drone standing upright. While its roots lie in the needs of adventure video, it is also excellent for cameras with large super-telephoto lenses.
  • Specifically built for the Action X70 and DV Roller – Shimoda DV Core Units are specifically built for the Shimoda X70 backpack and DV Roller. Both bags offer very generous volume for creatives who need to carry a large amount of gear and want to transport it safely.
  • Lightweight, water-repellent & versatile shell – The included shell primarily serves as storage protection for the padded Core Unit, ideal when the gear is at home and not in use. It keeps the Core Unit sealed and dust-free. Another function is its use as a packing sack. You can fill it with clothing or other items and pack it into the backpack or roller.
  • EVA protective shell and dividers – Walls and dividers are made of EVA, which provides much greater protection than other PE foams used in most camera bags. With EVA material, you gain greater control over the density and quality of the materials used to protect photo equipment. This means the walls are less bulky while still offering excellent protection.
  • Supportive frame – The DV Series Core Units have an additional frame around the edge of the opening. This ensures that the insert retains its shape and does not collapse when carried in the backpack. The frame gives both the backpack and the insert extra rigidity and support, helping to distribute the weight of heavy loads.
