Kirk QD Push Button Swivel-D strap adapter
Kirk QD Push Button Swivel-D strap adapter for flexible camera straps
Sometimes it’s just one small part that suddenly makes an entire setup work perfectly. The Kirk QD Push Button Swivel-D strap adapter is exactly such a component: a compact, high-load strap anchor that securely connects your camera or lens to a camera strap with a suitable attachment such as carabiners or clips, as used in systems à la BlackRapid and similar carrying straps.
You simply click the adapter into a QD strap mount on your camera or lens plate, and you instantly have a stable, QD-compatible connection for your strap. No fiddling, no screwing, no need to rebuild your setup every time. Click it in, done.
QD push button lock with additional protection
At the center is the push-button lock. The snap mechanism locks cleanly into the QD socket and stays there until you deliberately press the release button. Only then does the adapter come loose again. This makes accidental detachment in everyday use, for example when quickly swinging the camera around or catching it on your jacket, much less likely.
On top of the push button sits an additional protective contour that secures the adapter even better against unintentional release. This small but crucial detail improvement ensures that the strap anchor holds reliably even during hectic movements or long days of reportage work.
Proven Magpul QD system for camera and lens
The technology behind it is not an experiment, but a system with long practical experience: the Magpul QD system has been used for years in other demanding fields and has proven itself to be robust and trustworthy. Transferred to photography, this means you get a strap adapter that can confidently handle even heavy cameras and fast telephoto lenses.
In combination with suitable quick-release plates with QD mount, completely new possibilities open up for you. You can click your camera strap on and off in a flash and be back working on a tripod in the next moment, without having to remove the strap each time or rebuild complicated adapters.
Flush QD mounting on quick-release plates
The QD mount of this adapter is designed to sit flush in quick-release plates with a QD socket. The Kirk QD Push Button Swivel-D strap adapter finishes cleanly level with the surface of the plate, with nothing protruding in the way. This not only looks neat but also reduces the risk of bumping into things or accidentally twisting the adapter.
Especially if you frequently switch between handheld work with a strap and a stable setup on a tripod, this flush integration comes into its own: release the strap, place the camera on the quick-release clamp, keep working. This smooth workflow pays off by the second job at the latest.
D-loop for narrow straps and straps with clips
Characteristic of this strap anchor is the D-shaped bracket, the so-called Swivel-D. It is ideal for narrow straps, straps with carabiners or clips, and also for many modern sling straps. The D-loop provides a stable, easily accessible attachment point without being unnecessarily bulky.
Thanks to the rotating design, the strap can turn with your movements, which reduces twisting of the strap and increases carrying comfort. This is especially practical if you frequently rotate the camera from landscape to portrait orientation or carry it at your side.
Robust materials for daily use
When it comes to materials, the Kirk QD Push Button Swivel-D strap adapter makes no compromises. The housing is made of black anodized aluminum, which offers an excellent balance of strength and low weight. This is complemented by manganese-phosphate-coated steel on the load-bearing components, providing additional hardness and corrosion protection.
With a weight of only about 19.8 g, the adapter remains pleasantly unobtrusive in your setup while still providing the necessary stability for professional use. It’s a small part that you ideally hardly notice—until the moment you don’t have it with you.
Made in the USA, precise manufacturing and high quality control
The Kirk QD Push Button Swivel-D strap adapter is made in the USA and is therefore subject to strict quality standards, as known from high-quality camera and outdoor accessories. The precise manufacturing ensures clean engagement in QD sockets and reliable functioning of the push-button mechanism over a long period of time.
In practice, we find that such precisely manufactured components make the difference, especially with frequent attaching and detaching: less play, less wear, less hassle. In short, you can rely on this strap anchor to continue working smoothly even after many uses.
QD-compatible strap anchor for modern carrying systems
As a strap anchor with QD-compatible push-button technology, this adapter is ideal if you want to use your existing carabiner straps or straps with clips on camera or lens plates with QD mount. It forms the bridge between modern quick-release plates and flexible carrying systems.
If your camera or lens plate has a QD strap mount, you will need a suitable strap with QD strap anchors to use it. You can find more information here: Strap with QD strap anchors.
Care instructions for long-term reliable function
Like all mechanical components, the Magpul-based QD adapter benefits from a bit of care. To ensure that the locking pins continue to operate smoothly and reliably, we recommend occasionally cleaning the mechanism lightly and lubricating it sparingly.
For example, we maintain our adapters with a touch of Ballistol or WD-40. Don’t overdo it; a thin film is completely sufficient. This keeps the push button smooth, the snap mechanism engages cleanly, and the strap anchor will accompany you reliably and without complaint through your everyday photography for a long time.
