If you often carry your tripod in your hand, you know the situation: quickly change location, briefly over the shoulder, move on. The Leofoto LS tripod carrying strap is designed exactly for such distances and offers a pleasantly straightforward solution. You get a comfortable carrying strap made of woven nylon webbing, 31 mm wide and 1.40 m long. Stable, with good grip, not too narrow, not unnecessarily bulky. And yes, it is designed for tripods with a 1/4" UNC thread, i.e. for the common 1/4" thread in the tripod shoulder.

Material, dimensions and comfortable handling

The strap is made of woven nylon. That may sound unspectacular at first, but in everyday use it is exactly what you want: robust, resistant and comfortable to wear. With a width of 31 mm, the weight is noticeably better distributed, especially if the tripod is not the lightest. The length of 1.40 m suits many carrying styles: over the shoulder, across the torso or simply loosely carried in the hand.

QD 1 quick releases for fast attaching and detaching

There is a QD 1 quick release at each end of the strap. This is the point where the LS carrying strap really speeds things up in everyday use, because you don’t have to thread it in awkwardly or readjust it every time. You attach it, you release it, done. And the whole system doesn’t feel like a toy, but like something designed for photo and video gear.

With QDC tripod clamp in the 36 mm version

At one end, the QD 1 quick release is equipped with a QDC tripod clamp, here in the 36 mm version. This clamp is attached to one leg segment of the tripod. It is important that you choose the right size based on the thickest leg diameter. In this version it is 36 mm, making it suitable for tripods whose strongest leg segment has this diameter. If the clamp sits correctly, the attachment point is also reliable.

QDM 1 special screw with 1/4" thread

At the other end of the strap you will also find a QD 1 quick release, but here combined with the QDM 1 special screw. This special screw has a 1/4" thread. You screw it into the 1/4" thread located on the side below the tripod plate. This detail is what makes the Leofoto LS so compatible, because many tripods have exactly this 1/4" UNC thread in that position.

Practical tripod mounting

First, attach the QDC clamp to a leg segment. Then screw the QDM 1 special screw with 1/4" thread into the 1/4" thread located on the side below the tripod plate. Once both mounting elements are installed, you connect the two QD 1 quick releases. They snap into place without much fiddling, just position and connect. To release them, press the buttons marked “Push” on the QD 1 quick releases, and the strap detaches from the tripod again. It sounds simple, and it is. That’s exactly the charm of it.

QD notes and size selection

The carrying strap is QD compatible and therefore particularly practical for quickly switching between transport and use. Especially when you’re on the go, it makes a noticeable difference if you don’t first have to laboriously undo hooks, straps or screws.

The Leofoto LS tripod carrying strap for the 1/4" UNC thread in the tripod shoulder is available in different sizes. To ensure a proper fit, you should determine the thickest diameter of your tripod legs. The following options are available:

• 28 mm
• 32 mm
• 36 mm

If you choose the 36 mm version here, it is designed precisely for this maximum leg diameter. This way the clamp sits correctly, and the carrying strap does what it is supposed to do: make your tripod safe and comfortable to transport without you having to constantly readjust it.

Tip

Like all mechanical components, QD adapters need occasional maintenance so that the pins continue to function reliably. We maintain our adapters with Ballistol or WD-40.
