The Really Right Stuff B2-LLR II 80mm LR quick-release clamp is built exactly for this moment: you simply drop your camera in from above, close the lever, done. No fiddling around, no sliding in from the side, no stress when the light is just perfect.

This quick-release clamp is specifically designed for Really Right Stuff’s R-Mount system and offers you reliable anti-twist protection. In combination with matching R-Mount ball heads, your camera sits securely and is aligned reproducibly, which is extremely helpful especially for recurring setups, studio work, or precise series shots.

Arca-style compatible, work flexibly with 38 mm dovetail profiles

According to the manufacturer, the B2-LLR II accepts Arca-style compatible 38 mm dovetail profiles, making it surprisingly versatile. It is designed for Really Right Stuff dovetail, Wimberley dovetail and Kirk dovetail and thus provides a very flexible base for your existing L-brackets, lens plates or camera plates. This means you can usually continue using your existing ARCA system without having to buy everything new.

Since 2012 this clamp has been self-adjusting and accepts almost all common ARCA-style dovetail profiles. An important note: profiles from NOVOFLEX and 38 mm Dovetail P0 Slidefix do not fit this clamp out of the box. However, Novoflex profiles can be adapted by slightly raising the underside, for example with a thin plastic or aluminum shim.

Lever clamp for top-loading and fast operation

The major practical advantage of this quick-release clamp is the lever clamp with top-loading function. You simply insert the plate or L-bracket from above into the clamp instead of sliding it in from the side. Especially when things need to move quickly or when you are working with heavy telephoto lenses, this makes a noticeable difference in handling.

The lever offers three clearly defined positions: fully closed, half open and fully open. In the half-open position, you can slide the mounted plate within the clamp to fine-tune the exact position without the camera being able to fall out immediately. In the fully open position, the plate can then be conveniently inserted or removed from above.

Another advantage: the lever clamp has a very low profile. With a height of about 1.5 cm and a lever that does not protrude above or below the clamp height, the B2-LLR II is ideal for setups with limited vertical clearance, for example with gimbal setups, on slider systems or in tight studio rigs.

In the closed position, the lever lies close to the clamp, which reduces the risk of snagging on something. Especially during outdoor shoots, when straps, slings, clothing and cables come into play, this is a safety aspect that should not be underestimated.

Made in the USA, robust materials and durable construction

The Really Right Stuff B2-LLR II is manufactured in the USA and relies on a combination of aluminum and stainless steel. The housing is made of precisely milled aluminum, black anodized to provide a durable, unobtrusive surface that minimizes reflections and visually matches modern camera systems. The lever itself is made of stainless steel and is practically wear-free, so that even with intensive use the clamping force remains reliably consistent.

With a weight of about 190 g, a length of around 8.0 cm, a width of about 8.6 cm and a jaw length of likewise 8.6 cm, the quick-release clamp offers a stable support surface without unnecessarily weighing down the setup. It is robust enough for heavy DSLR or full-frame mirrorless systems with telephoto lenses, yet compact enough for mobile use.

Mounting options and R-Mount anti-twist protection

The B2-LLR II proves pleasantly flexible when it comes to mounting. In the center of the underside there is a continuous 3/8" UNC photo thread, which allows you to screw the clamp onto heads with a 3/8" mounting stud. In addition, two 1/4" UNC photo threads are available, so that mounting with 1/4" or M6 countersunk screws from above is also possible. This allows you to use the clamp on classic ball heads as well as on various platforms, leveling bases or specialty heads.

The integrated R-Mount anti-twist protection ensures that the clamp sits form-fit on compatible R-Mount ball heads and does not rotate unintentionally. This is particularly helpful if you frequently switch between portrait and landscape orientation or need reproducible framing.

The B2-LLR II can be mounted on a wide range of heads and platforms, including all tripod heads and platforms with 3/8"-16 threaded studs, on tripod heads with 1/4"-20 threaded sockets (such as all RRS tripod heads) or with metric M6 threads. With a suitable thread reducer bushing, it can also be used on heads with 1/4"-20 threaded studs, and with an RRS 3/8"-16 threaded stud on tripod heads with 3/8"-16 threaded sockets. It is also suitable for Foba SuperBall (with M5 countersunk screw); for Foba Mini SuperBall and some Manfrotto heads, it is recommended to choose the B2 LR II variant.

An important note for owners of older Really Right Stuff ball heads without R-Mount: for mounting on these older heads, a separate CL adapter is required. Without this adapter, direct mounting is not intended.

Arca-style compatible, precise alignment with bubble level and scale

In addition to its actual clamping function, the B2-LLR II offers some practical details for precise alignment. An integrated bubble level helps you quickly level your camera, which is particularly useful for landscape photography, architecture or when working with horizon lines. In addition, the clamp features a laser-etched center mark and a finely engraved scale that allow you to set the plate position reproducibly.

This combination of bubble level, center mark and scale facilitates repeatable setups, for example for series shots, product photography or when you want to align different focal lengths exactly on the same axis. The scale is easy to read and helps you quickly find specific positions again without having to experiment from scratch each time.

Compatibility notes and practical everyday use

In practice, the B2-LLR II proves to be a reliable quick-release clamp for demanding photographers who value speed, stability and compatibility. Thanks to the top-loading lever clamp, you can quickly insert your camera or lens from above, which is particularly convenient if you frequently switch between tripod and handheld shooting.

We would like to emphasize once again: this clamp does not accept profiles from NOVOFLEX and no 38 mm Dovetail P0 Slidefix profiles. However, if you use such plates, you can adapt them by slightly raising the underside, for example with a thin plastic or aluminum shim. For all common ARCA-style plates from Really Right Stuff, Wimberley, Kirk and many other manufacturers, the B2-LLR II is generally usable without any problems.

Thanks to the combination of black anodized aluminum and stainless steel, the clamp is designed for longevity. The surface is resistant to everyday signs of use, and the lever made of stainless steel is practically non-wearing, even if you open and close it countless times during every shoot.
