Leofoto BV-15 fluid video head

Leofoto BV-15 fluid video head for smooth camera movements

Sometimes you only realize in the edit how valuable a clean pan really is. The Leofoto BV-15 fluid video head is made exactly for these moments: a true fluid head with a load capacity of 10 kg, built for demanding wildlife filmmakers, videographers and photographers who don’t want to struggle with shaky clips every time. The adjustable fluid damping ensures that your movements remain defined, controlled and, above all, jerk-free, whether you’re slowly gliding over a landscape or tracking a shy animal with a telephoto lens.

Arca-style compatible, quick-release clamp without hassle

According to the manufacturer, the BV-15’s clamp accepts Arca-style compatible 38 mm dovetail plates. This means: if you already use ARCA equipment, you can simply integrate the BV-15 into your existing setup without major modifications or hunting for special plates. The screw clamp holds your camera or rig securely in place, even with heavy telephoto lenses. This lets you switch between DSLR, mirrorless or a lightweight video rig without having to rebuild everything from scratch each time.

Precise pans: 360° horizontal, -75° to +90° vertical

The video head offers a panning range of 360 degrees horizontally and a tilt range from -75 to +90 degrees vertically. This covers pretty much everything that occurs in practice: from subjects close to the ground to a vertical view straight up into the sky. The adjustable fluid damping helps you fine-tune the movement exactly as you need it: smooth but not mushy, defined but not jerky. This really pays off in telephoto work, where every tiny twitch would be visible in the image.

Control arm for controlled movements

The BV-15 comes with a 280 mm control arm that gives you very fine control over your camera movements. You can mount it so that you grip it from above or so that you operate it from below, depending on how you prefer to work or how your setup is configured. Especially when you’re tracking a moving subject, such as birds in flight or athletes on the track, this arm helps you keep the movement fluid and even, without having to cling tensely to the camera.

Robust construction made from 6061-T6 aluminum

The Leofoto BV-15 is made from 6061-T6 aluminum, a material often used in aerospace engineering because it is strong, durable and still comparatively lightweight. Weighing about 1.3 kg, the head is solid enough to keep larger setups steady without overloading your tripod unnecessarily. The base has a diameter of 7.0 cm, providing a stable contact area on the tripod, which is especially important with long focal lengths and in windy conditions.

Compatible with tripods with 3/8-inch thread

The video head features a 3/8-inch UNC internal thread and can therefore be combined with virtually any standard photo tripod that offers a 3/8-inch tripod screw. It is recommended to use it with tripods that have a leveling base or half ball, because this allows you to level the horizon very quickly without having to readjust the tripod legs. Especially if you change locations frequently, this saves you noticeable time and nerves.

Optimized for DSLR, mirrorless and telephoto work

The BV-15 is designed for DSLR, mirrorless cameras and telephoto photography. With a maximum payload of 10.0 kg and a recommended balance load of 0 to 3 kg, it is suitable both for classic stills cameras with telephoto lenses and for more compact video rigs. If you’re out and about with a 300 mm or 400 mm telephoto, you benefit from the smooth operation and finely adjustable damping, as you can keep the subject cleanly in frame without the head suddenly tipping forward.

Exact alignment with two bubble levels

So you don’t have to guess whether your horizon is really straight, the BV-15 has two integrated bubble levels. They help you align the head precisely before you start filming or shooting. This precise alignment is a real advantage, especially for panorama pans or if you want to minimize corrections later in post-production.

Smooth movements in both cold and heat

The temperature range of the Leofoto BV-15 is between -20 and +40 degrees Celsius. This means: whether you’re filming outdoors in frosty winter conditions or working in blazing summer sun, the fluid damping remains reliably usable. Of course, extreme conditions challenge any material, but the BV-15 is clearly designed to be used outdoors in real-life situations and not just to shine in the studio.

Stable base for professional video work

With a height of around 13.0 cm, the head offers a comfortable working height on the tripod without unnecessarily raising your setup. The combination of a stable base, smooth damping and precise mechanics makes the BV-15 a professional tripod head for anyone who values controlled, repeatable movements. Whether you’re shooting nature films, recording interviews or simply want to take your travel videos to a new level, this fluid video head is designed to support you reliably.
