Leofoto BV-20 fluid video head

Leofoto BV-20 fluid video head for precise video and nature shots

You often only notice it when things start to jerk: a smoothly operating fluid video head is almost more important for steady camera moves than the camera itself. The Leofoto BV-20 fluid video head is built exactly for this moment, for smooth pans, controlled tilts and stable image guidance when it really matters.

With a maximum load capacity of 15 kg and a balance load of 0 to 4 kg, the BV-20 is consistently designed for use with DSLR, mirrorless cameras and longer telephoto lenses. Whether telephotography from a hide, calm interviews or dynamic nature and sports shots: the head remains composed, even when the setup gets a bit out of hand.

Arca-style compatible, quick changes, secure clamping

According to the manufacturer, the quick-release clamp of the Leofoto BV-20 accepts Arca-style compatible 38 mm dovetail plates and works with a robust lever clamp. This lets you mount your camera or rig quickly, fine-tune the balance and, if necessary, release it just as fast, without fiddling with tiny screws. Especially in the field, when things have to move quickly, this combination of lever clamp and Arca-style standard is a real saver of time and nerves.

Smooth movements thanks to dynamic fluid damping

The core of the BV-20 is its precise fluid damping. The tilt damping level operates steplessly and dynamically, and the pan damping is also continuously adjustable. This means you can adjust the resistance exactly to your setup and your style, from very light, almost floating resistance to distinctly braked, cinematic movements. The fluid damping ensures defined, jerk-free pans so you can track subjects cleanly without the image “dragging” or stuttering.

360° panning range and wide tilt range for flexible image composition

The panorama plate of the Leofoto BV-20 can be rotated 360 degrees, allowing horizontal pans to run absolutely evenly and in a controlled manner. Vertically, the tilt range covers front -75 to +90 degrees. This lets you realize both slightly inclined, unobtrusive camera movements and very steep perspectives, for example with birds in flight, architectural shots or when filming upwards from a low position. The three camera balance adjustment levels help you optimally set the center of gravity of your camera-lens combination so the head does not unintentionally tip forward or backward.

280 mm control arm for controlled pans

The 280 millimeter long control arm allows very sensitive handling of the video head. You can mount it so that you grip it from above, or alternatively so that you guide it from below, depending on what is more ergonomic for you or better suited to the particular shooting situation. The long arm enables smooth, even movements, even at long focal lengths where the slightest shake would become visible.

Robust construction made from 6061-T6 aluminum

The Leofoto BV-20 is made from 6061-T6 aluminum, a high-quality material proven in aerospace applications. This ensures a stable, torsion-resistant construction while still offering good handling. With a weight of around 2.0 kg and a height of 14.5 cm, the head is solid enough to safely support heavy telephoto lenses and extensive rigs without being unnecessarily bulky. The base diameter of 7.5 cm provides a wide, secure contact surface on the tripod.

Compatible with tripods with 3/8" UNC thread mount

The video head has a 3/8" UNC internal thread and can therefore be mounted on virtually any common video or photo tripod with a corresponding 3/8-inch tripod screw. It is particularly ideal in combination with tripods that have a leveling base or half bowl, as this allows you to level the head quickly without having to adjust each tripod leg individually every time.

Fine alignment with two bubble levels

Two bubble levels are integrated for precise alignment. This lets you check at a glance whether the head is perfectly level, which is especially crucial for video recording and long focal lengths. Accurate alignment prevents crooked horizons and saves you from time-consuming corrections in post-production.

Optimized for DSLR, mirrorless cameras and telephotography

The Leofoto BV-20 is explicitly recommended for DSLR, mirrorless cameras (DSLM) and telephotography. This is reflected in the load capacity of up to 15 kg, the three balance adjustment levels and the finely tunable fluid damping. Whether you are using a lightweight mirrorless setup with a standard zoom or a heavy telephoto lens with gimbal and accessories, the head can be configured to support your system smoothly and in a controlled manner.

Reliable in heat and cold

With an operating temperature range from -30 to +60 degrees Celsius, the BV-20 is also designed for tougher use. Whether you are in a winter hide at dawn or in summer heat on dusty sports fields, the head remains functional and the damping characteristics stay within a reliable range. Especially for outdoor and nature photography, this temperature tolerance is an important detail that you only truly appreciate when you want to work cleanly despite frost or heat.

Precise control over counterbalance and balance

The integrated counterbalance ensures that you can finely balance your setup in tilt. Together with the three camera balance adjustment levels, you set up the head so that the camera remains in the desired position without you having to constantly hold against it. This reduces fatigue during longer sessions and allows you to concentrate more on the subject instead of having to hold the head in place all the time.

Technical key data of the Leofoto BV-20 at a glance
