Leofoto LS-365C Ranger carbon tripod

Leofoto LS-365C Ranger carbon tripod: stable, compact and pleasantly lightweight

If you’re looking for a three-legged tripod that won’t become a burden in your backpack and still really delivers, the Leofoto LS-365C Ranger fits the bill quite well. It weighs 1.77 kg, so it remains travel-friendly, while supporting up to 20 kg. That’s not just theory: even a hefty DSLR or mirrorless camera with a long telephoto lens sits on it exactly as you’d expect. Steady, without annoying residual vibrations.

The maximum working height is 1.52 m, which is comfortable for many setups without you constantly having to contort yourself. And when you need to get really low, it goes down to a minimum height of 8.0 cm. That’s the range where macro shots or ground-level perspectives suddenly become fun, because the tripod simply plays along.

10-layer carbon and CNC aluminum: built for real stress

For the LS-365C, Leofoto relies on 10-layer carbon, combined with aluminum at the crucial points. Carbon gives you the low weight, of course, but also the damping you quickly learn to appreciate outdoors when wind or ground conditions are less than ideal. And yes, stability and low vibration benefit from the number of layers; you can really notice that in practice.

The modular design of the Ranger series is a real advantage: a center column is not built in permanently, but is only attached when you actually need it. This keeps the packed size small, and you’re not automatically hauling around more than necessary. Sometimes less really is more.

Legs with 5 sections: smooth, twist-proof, with noticeable rigidity

Each leg consists of five sections that extend smoothly and cleanly. The diameters are not chosen at random, but clearly designed for rigidity: 36, 32, 28, 25 and 22 mm. It’s exactly the kind of dimensions you look at and think: okay, this thing is serious.

They’re locked using grippy, rubberized twist locks. You can operate them properly even with cold fingers. And because the legs are guided to prevent twisting, extending them doesn’t feel jerky, but simply… normal, just the way it should.

Flexible working height: three leg angles and really low perspectives

For different situations there are three leg angle settings at 23°, 55° and 85°. This lets you quickly move from a comfortable standard height to a very low position. That’s worth its weight in gold, especially for macro photography, landscape photography, or even reportage photography when you want to react quickly. And in architectural photography it helps you align the camera cleanly without having to settle for half-baked compromises.

Compact packed size and small platform: ideal for travel and outdoor use

Folded up, the LS-365C remains pleasantly compact. The transport length is 50 cm, which fits in many bags and can still be attached reasonably well to the outside of a backpack. The platform is deliberately kept space-saving and measures 6.0 cm in diameter. It is CNC-milled from strong aircraft-grade aluminum with precise tolerances, and the head plate screw comes with a 3/8 inch thread. That’s the standard most heads expect, whether you’re out for telephoto work, hide photography or panoramic photography.

Grip in rough terrain: rubber feet, stainless steel spikes and useful accessories

Unwanted vibrations are already well absorbed by the rubber feet. But if the ground is slippery, soft or just nasty, you can swap the feet for the included stainless steel spikes. They provide significantly more bite, especially on forest floor, gravel or wet grass. Optional snow and sand feet are also available if you really work in such conditions frequently.

The carbon tripod comes in a practical carrying bag. And yes, that’s not just decoration: in the bag you’ll also find a multi-tool as well as the set of stainless steel spikes. Everything in one place, nothing rattling around loose. That’s how we like it.

What types of photography the LS-365C is particularly well suited for

Thanks to the combination of high load capacity, effective damping and variable working height, the LS-365C is a very well-balanced tripod for travel photography and landscape photography, but also for telephoto work and hide photography, where stability really matters. At the same time, it performs surprisingly well in macro photography thanks to the 8.0 cm minimum height. And for reportage photography it’s convenient that you can set it up and pack it away quickly without a lot of fiddling.
