Leofoto LM-362C Summit carbon tripod

Leofoto LM-362C Summit carbon tripod for low-angle photography and heavy setups

If you’re looking for a tripod that doesn’t focus on “maximum height” but shines where it often really matters, then the Leofoto LM-362C Summit carbon tripod is a pretty good fit. It’s deliberately built low and remains surprisingly resilient. With a payload of up to 45 kg, it supports large telephoto lenses or a hefty video rig without you constantly feeling like you need to breathe carefully. And yes, it’s compact enough that it doesn’t keep getting in the way in your backpack.

The folded length is 270 mm, the weight is 1.29 kg. That may sound matter-of-fact, but in practice it means you’re more likely to take it with you instead of leaving it in the car “for later”.

Working heights from 7 cm to 37 cm, ideal for macro, hide photography and low-angle work

The LM-362C covers a minimum working height of 7 cm and goes up to a maximum working height of 0.37 m. Especially for low-angle work, macro photography or hide photography, this is a real advantage because you don’t have to improvise to get close to the ground. At the same time, it remains stable enough to properly support telephoto work, even when it’s windy or the ground is less than ideal.

And because the tripod isn’t unnecessarily tall in its design, it feels very “tidy” in use. Less leverage, less wobble. You can tell.

Two leg sections, large tube diameters and leg angles of 23, 55 and 85 degrees

Each leg has two sections, so the tripod is quick to set up and just as quick to pack down. With diameters of 36 mm and 32 mm, the leg sections are pleasantly beefy, which noticeably contributes to stability. On top of that, you get leg angle settings of 23, 55 and 85 degrees. This lets you splay it out flat or keep it more compact, depending on whether you need maximum stability or a specific position. Not complicated, just practical.

For materials, Leofoto uses 10-layer carbon for the legs, complemented by aluminum and stainless steel wherever it makes sense. It doesn’t feel like “lightweight at any cost”, more like robust and well thought out.

75 mm bowl mount, removable platform and 3/8 UNC tripod thread

The Summit concept is also evident at the top: you get a removable tripod platform and a 75 mm half ball included. The bowl mount is designed for 75 mm, giving you a lot of flexibility, for example if you want to use a 75 mm leveling bowl or a tripod head with an integrated 75 mm bowl. Mounting is done via a 3/8" UNC photo thread mounting bolt, which is exactly what is most commonly used in practice.

A center column can be retrofitted as an option if you later decide you want a bit more height or a different way of working. A leveling insert can also be retrofitted as an option if you want to tailor your setup even more towards precise leveling.

Everyday details: bubble level, interchangeable feet and sensible accessories

For quick leveling, a bubble level is integrated; one is usually more than enough to get the base properly aligned. At the bottom you can switch between rubber feet and stainless steel spikes depending on the surface. On rock, forest floor or wet grass, this makes more of a difference than you might think.

Also included are the multi-tool and a carrying bag. Nothing spectacular, but exactly the things you’d otherwise end up buying later or missing.
