The Leofoto DC364C center column is a separate accessory that really only belongs in the tripods designed for it. It fits exclusively the following models: Leofoto LM-363C, Leofoto LM-364C, Leofoto LM-362C, Leofoto LM-323C, Leofoto LN-364C, Leofoto LM-324C and Leofoto LM-365C. If you use exactly one of these tripods, you get a precisely fitting, stable extension here – no DIY solutions, no play.

The column is made of 10-layer wrapped carbon, the same material that Leofoto also uses for the matching tripods. The metal components are made of aluminum and are precisely CNC-milled, just as you would expect from well-made parts. The whole thing remains pleasantly light: the weight is 0.48 kg, i.e. around 478 g. Not nothing, but in practice exactly the kind of weight you’re still happy to carry in your backpack.

425 mm additional working height, 3/8 inch screw for professional tripod heads

With the DC364C you increase the maximum working height of your tripod by up to 425 mm. Especially if you don’t always want to extend the legs further, this is a pretty practical reserve. On top there is a 3/8 inch screw on the top plate, allowing professional tripod heads to be mounted securely, including larger ball heads or tilt heads. Everything sits firmly without you having to keep tightening it.

The diameter of the center column is 32 mm. That sounds like a detail, but it’s important because it matches the clamping mechanism and the stability of the system. And yes, the column slides pleasantly smoothly; it can be adjusted quickly without any sticking points.

Reversible for low-angle macro shots, wing nut and weight hook for increased stability

One feature many only come to appreciate later: you can also use the center column in reverse, i.e. pointing down toward the ground. This places the camera below the tripod head, which is incredibly useful for low-angle perspectives and macro shots. No contortions, no improvisation – just the way it was intended.

The position is fixed via a sturdy wing nut on the tripod head. It is quick to operate and remains easy to grip, even when it’s cold or you’re wearing gloves. At the bottom of the column there is also a hook for a counterweight, such as a camera bag. This allows you to noticeably increase stability in windy conditions or on uneven ground. You won’t use it all the time, but when you need it, it’s there.
