Leofoto LO-324C carbon tripod with leveling center column
Leofoto LO-324C carbon tripod with leveling center column
If you’re looking for a tripod that doesn’t get on your nerves on the go and still stands really solid, the Leofoto LO-324C fits the bill quite well. It’s a three-legged tripod from the Mr.O series, built as a carbon tripod with an integrated center column and an integrated leveling base. Sounds technical, but in everyday use it’s simple: set it up, level it properly, done. And yes, it supports up to 15 kg, so even a larger mirrorless camera with heavy glass is no problem here.
The material mix is deliberately chosen: 10-layer carbon for the legs, plus aluminum and stainless steel in the places where it really matters in the long run.
Leveling center column, integrated leveling base and bubble level
The center column is there, and it’s adjustable for leveling. That’s exactly what makes the LO-324C so pleasant when you want to work level quickly without endlessly fiddling with the leg lengths. The leveling base is integrated, and there’s also a spirit level on the tripod so you can keep an eye on the alignment directly. It’s one of those details you only miss once it’s gone.
Practical solution: both the center column and the platform have set screws. This means a mounted tripod head doesn’t twist so easily, even if you tighten it more firmly or get a bit hectic in use.
Working heights from ground level to tall, without fuss
You get a maximum working height of 1.33 m without the center column. With the center column extended, it goes up to 1.63 m. For low-angle work it goes down to 10 cm, and that’s without the center column. For macro photography or very low perspectives this is simply worth its weight in gold, especially outdoors in rough terrain where you can’t always stand “perfectly”.
The tripod is recommended for mirrorless cameras, travel photography, reportage photography, landscape photography, low-angle work and macro photography. Basically everything where you want light gear but not a wobbly setup.
Legs, sections, angles and locks: fast, grippy, robust
Each leg has 4 sections with diameters of 32, 28, 25 and 22 mm. This provides a stable base without making the tripod feel bulky. You can set the leg angles to 23°, 55° or 85°, depending on whether you need more height or want to work very low.
The twist locks have good grip and only need a quarter turn to open and close. In winter with cold fingers or gloves, this honestly feels much better than some other systems.
Maintenance has also been properly considered: the inside of the tripod legs consists of just one part. Cleaning and care are therefore easier, and this one-piece solution is also more stable and reliable than two-piece constructions. Not spectacular, but pretty important in everyday use.
Stability, feet, spikes and threads
The tripod feet have 3/8" threads and give the tripod a secure stand on any surface. For softer ground like sand or mud, spikes are included so you don’t slowly sink in or slip away.
For indoor use or delicate surfaces you use the rubber feet in mushroom design with aluminum core. Thanks to their shape they support you reliably even at different leg angles, which you especially notice when you set the tripod very low.
You’re flexible when it comes to mounting: there is a 3/8" UNC photo thread mounting stud and a 1/4" UNC photo thread mounting stud. The foot thread is designed as a 3/8" UNC internal thread.
Tripod shoulder with accessory threads and removable weight hook
The tripod shoulder is a typical Leofoto detail, because it’s not just “there”. 1/4" and 3/8" threads are integrated so you can mount accessories, for example matching add-on parts like AM 1, AM 2, AM 3 or AM 4. For light, monitor, microphone or whatever you actually need.
The platform has a removable weight hook. You can also mount it on the center column, depending on how you prefer to place your weight for stabilization. Especially in windy conditions this is sometimes the small difference between “good enough” and “rock solid”.
Transport, weight and handling when traveling
With a transport length of 55 cm, the LO-324C remains pleasantly travel-friendly without forcing you to make major compromises in stability. The weight is 1.65 kg, so it’s carryable but not ultra-light at any cost. We think this is a good compromise because it simply feels more solid in use.
Padded tripod bag included
A professional, padded tripod bag is included with the tripod. It’s made of 900D polyester and coated with waterproof PU material. On top of that you get double YKK zippers, metal hooks and a 1.5" wide nylon shoulder strap. This is not a flimsy extra, but a bag you’ll actually want to use.
Conversion for low-angle work with short center column
- Remove the center column by loosening the twist lock.
- Mount the included short center column, the mounting platform and the 3/8" to 1/4" mounting stud one after the other.
- Tighten the twist lock again.
