Thanks to the modular concept of base and 160 mm base plate, you get a replacement foot that can be adjusted very precisely to different telephoto lenses. The base is screwed onto the base plate and can be moved along almost the entire length of the plate. This allows you to position the center of gravity of your combination of camera, telephoto lens and possibly teleconverter exactly where it belongs: cleanly balanced above the tripod head. Whether you’re working with a heavy DSLR with battery grip or a lighter mirrorless camera, this lets you fine-tune the balance very precisely.

QD-compatible with 2 strap anchor mounts for double security

The OF-C-T 160 features two QD-compatible strap anchor mounts that give you additional security when carrying your setup. You can use a single QD strap or, if maximum security is important to you, use two straps or one strap with two anchor points to distribute the load more evenly. This is particularly practical when you’re out with a Canon RF 1200mm f/8L IS USM or a Sony 600mm f/4 GM OSS FE, where the total weight quickly becomes noticeable.

Thanks to the dual QD mounts, you can set up your system so that it tilts less while carrying and feels more comfortable. ARCA-compatible base plate for quick changes on the tripod head

The 160 mm base plate of the OF-C-T 160 is ARCA-compatible. This means you can insert the replacement foot directly into suitable ARCA quick-release clamps without additional adapters. The long dovetail plate gives you room to fine-tune the center of gravity. You can move the lens in the quick-release clamp to adjust the balance for different camera bodies or when using a teleconverter. In combination with the movable base on the plate, this creates a very flexible system that can be adapted to different setups without you having to remount everything all the time.

Developed by us, practical, modular design

We developed this modular system because classic one-piece replacement feet are simply not flexible enough in many situations. In practice, it becomes clear that photographers configure their equipment in very different ways: sometimes with battery grip, sometimes without, sometimes with teleconverter, sometimes with a lighter mirrorless camera. A rigid foot can only compensate for these differences to a limited extent.

The OF-C-T 160 consists of a lens base and a separate base plate. The base is screwed onto the plate and can be moved along the entire length. This allows you to very finely adjust the position of the lens above the dovetail plate, depending on your current combination. It is a system that grows with you, for example when you switch from a Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 L IS III to a Canon RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM or use Sony FE telephoto lenses such as the Sony 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS FE in parallel.

We see this replacement foot as a kind of basic building block for your telephoto setup that adapts to your way of working instead of forcing you into a rigid scheme. It may sound like a small detail at first, but in daily work with heavy telephoto lenses it is precisely these fine points that make the difference.

All screws and tools required for mounting are included

So you can get started right away, the modular replacement lens foot OF-C-T 160 comes with everything you need to mount it on your lens. The scope of delivery includes the lens base OS-C-T for Canon EF, Canon RF and Sony FE telephoto lenses, the 160 mm quick-release plate, matching M4 mounting screws in various lengths, as well as M3 safety stop screws.

The M4 mounting screws are matched to the intended telephoto lenses, such as the Canon EF super-telephoto lenses or the Sony GM FE teles. The M3 safety stop screws prevent accidental slipping out of the quick-release clamp if the ARCA clamp should ever not be fully closed. This is an additional safety reserve that you will hopefully never need, but greatly appreciate if things do get hectic.

A suitable tool set for mounting is also included, so you don’t have to go looking for hex keys. You can remove the original foot, mount the OF-C-T 160, move the base on the plate to your desired position and be ready for use in a short time. Everything is designed so that you don’t have to tinker for long, but can quickly get back to shooting.

Movable base for optimal center of gravity of your lens-camera combination

The key advantage of this system lies in the movable connection between base and base plate. The base can be moved on the base plate for optimal adjustment to the lens and the center of gravity of the lens-camera combination. You can choose the position so that your setup almost balances itself on the tripod head without you having to constantly counteract.

This flexibility is particularly noticeable at long focal lengths such as the Canon RF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM or the Canon RF 1200mm f/8L IS USM. For example, if you switch between a mirrorless camera without grip and a heavy body with battery grip, you simply move the base on the plate until the balance is right again. The same applies when you add or remove a teleconverter. Instead of having to rethink how to place the lens on the tripod head every time, you adjust the position cleanly once and then continue working in a relaxed manner.

The result is a very finely adjustable system that is suitable for both nature and sports photography as well as for longer sessions in the studio. You can focus more on the subject and less on the question of whether the setup is about to tip forward.
