ProMediaGear QDP1 - QD plug connector for camera straps & carabiner hooks

ProMediaGear QDP1 QD Plug Connector for Camera Straps and Carabiners

Sometimes everything literally hangs on a single point, the strap anchor. This is exactly where the ProMediaGear QDP1 QD Plug Connector comes in. It transforms your existing camera strap with up to 2.54 cm strap width into a modern QD-compatible system without forcing you to retire your favorite strap.

You simply click the QD plug into a suitable QD socket, attach your strap or carabiner hook to it, and you’re ready to go. No fiddling, no improvising with half-baked solutions, but a clearly defined, secure system that quickly pays off in everyday use.

Robust materials for tough everyday photography

The QDP1 is made in the USA, and you can feel it. The housing is made of precisely machined aircraft-grade aluminum, and the high-stress parts are stainless steel. This combination ensures stability, even when you hang heavy DSLR or mirrorless setups with telephoto lenses from it.

With a maximum load capacity of about 6.8 kg, the QD Plug Connector is significantly more robust than its compact size would suggest. It’s not meant as decoration, but as a real working tool for photographers who regularly use their gear outdoors, on the go, at events, or in the studio.

Easily convert existing straps to QD

If you love your existing camera strap but want a QD system, the ProMediaGear QDP1 adapter is just what you need. You can connect almost any camera strap with 1-inch webbing (2.54 cm) to the QD plug. This way, you upgrade your setup to a modern quick-change system without having to invest in a completely new one.

The QDP1 acts as a compact strap anchor that creates the connection between the strap and the camera or lens plate with QD socket. Once mounted, you can attach or detach your strap in seconds without having to unscrew anything on the camera itself each time.

Flexible between webbing and carabiner

A practical detail that is easy to underestimate: the QDP1 offers you two different strap options. You can either connect it directly to 1-inch webbing or use a carabiner hook.

For you, this means: you decide whether you thread your camera strap through in the classic way or prefer to work with a robust carabiner, for example if you want to attach your camera to a climbing harness, backpack, or a modular carrying system. This flexibility makes the QD Plug Connector interesting for outdoor photographers, travelers, wedding photographers, and anyone who really wants to adapt their gear to their own workflow.

Quick release for fast changes

The core of the system is the QD push-button quick release. A short press, a click, done. You attach or detach your strap in just a few seconds, without screws and without awkward handling of small eyelets.

Especially when you switch between hands-free carrying, tripod use, and transport in a backpack, this type of quick coupling pays off. Detach the camera from the strap, onto the tripod, later back onto the strap again-this can be done almost in passing and is noticeably more convenient in everyday use.

Scope of delivery with useful extras

With every ProMediaGear QDP1 QD Plug Connector, you receive a Peak Design QR safety tether. This additional safety strap serves as a second level of security if you want to double-secure your camera, for example during reportage work in crowds or when working at greater heights.

So that you can get started right away, the QDP1 comes as a well-thought-out set with QD adapter, carabiner attachment, strap attachment for 1-inch webbing, Peak Design QR safety tether, and hex key. This makes the switch to a QD system quick and easy, without unnecessary additional purchases.

Important notes on use

If you want to use the QDP1 together with Kirk products, you should pay close attention to the design of the QD socket. It must have three small cutouts so that the QD plug can lock in correctly and the strap can reliably support the accessory.

In addition, the ProMediaGear QDP1 QD Plug Connector is not compatible with the lens plates and lens feet from Augenblicke-eingefangen. For many other QD-capable plates and accessories with a suitable socket, however, it is a very practical addition.

Product images may differ from the actual scope of delivery; any accessories shown are therefore not necessarily included.

Tip: Like all mechanical components, QD adapters need occasional maintenance so that the pins continue to function reliably. We maintain our adapters with Ballistol or WD-40.
