Tragopan Backpack Tetras 500 V4

Tragopan Tetras 500 V4 backpack, your reliable photo companion on tour

Sometimes you just need a backpack that doesn’t argue, it just delivers. The Tragopan Tetras 500 V4 backpack is exactly that kind of candidate: built for long hiking days, packed with thoughtful details and clearly designed to transport large telephoto lenses safely and comfortably, without you having to worry about your gear every time.

Bringing a big telephoto? No problem, storage space for 500 mm and more

At the heart of the Tetras 500 V4, your large optic finds its place: it accommodates lenses up to 500 mm including camera body, or, if you prefer a bit more flexibility, 600 mm lenses without a body. This way you can take your telephoto with you when stalking wildlife, hiking or traveling, instead of leaving it at home for lack of space. The central compartment is expandable and gives you an extra 5 cm of depth when needed, which is very convenient for longer lenses or slightly more “bulky” equipment.

Well-thought-out interior with flexible layout

Inside, things are surprisingly tidy, if that’s what you want. The backpack comes with a full set of padded dividers: 2 large inner dividers, 2 medium partitions and 8 small partitions. This lets you structure your setup exactly as you need it, whether you’re out with one large telephoto plus a second body, or rather with several smaller lenses, binoculars, recorder, whatever.

On top of that, there are 6 transparent zippered pockets on the inside of the main compartment. Ideal for batteries, memory cards, filters, wireless triggers or all the little things that would otherwise disappear at the bottom of the backpack. Thanks to the transparency, you can see at a glance where everything is, with no frantic rummaging right before the perfect shot.

External pockets for laptop, clothing and small items

On the outside there is a large zippered pocket that offers enough space for a 15-inch laptop. Alternatively, you can store a light jacket, a change of clothes or simply your picnic there if you’re more in hiking than in work mode.

In the inner flap of this compartment there are also 2 zippered pockets that are suitable for money, IDs, travel documents or cables – in other words, everything you’d prefer to store a bit more protected and organized. On top of that, you’ll find 2 more zippered pockets on the front of the backpack, giving you additional storage space for things like gloves, headlamp, mosquito repellent or snacks. In short: enough pockets to keep things organized without having to search for half an hour.

Carrying system for long hiking days and heavy gear

The Tetras 500 V4 is clearly designed for hiking and longer outings. The shoulder straps are sturdily padded and equipped with robust metal D-rings. You can attach an optionally available, adjustable camera strap to these, which transfers the weight of your camera to the shoulder straps. This significantly relieves your neck, especially if you like to carry the camera ready to hand in front of your chest instead of constantly stowing it in the backpack.

The backpack itself is designed to handle up to 20 kg of gear on your back without any problem. For nature photography, wildlife observation or longer trekking tours with a heavy telephoto setup, this is a very comfortable reserve. So you don’t have to wonder with every additional lens whether it will “burst” the backpack.

Flexible attachment options for tripod, tent and more

All around the backpack – on the front, bottom, top and sides – you’ll find various straps with which you can securely attach additional equipment. A tripod can be transported just as easily as a small tent, sleeping mat or rolled-up clothing. Especially on tours where you combine photo and outdoor gear, this makes the Tetras 500 V4 a very versatile companion.

This way you don’t have to juggle several bags, but can bundle many things in one place. Once properly adjusted, everything sits securely on the backpack without swinging around wildly when you walk over roots, scree or narrow paths.

Robust construction, rain cover included

The backpack is designed for durability and tough use. The material is hard-wearing, the zippers are solid, and the entire construction gives the impression that it is intended for real outdoor conditions, not just for the city park.

To keep your gear protected even in changeable weather, the Tetras 500 V4 comes with a matching rain cover. You can simply pull it over when needed to reliably shield your camera, lenses and accessories from rain, drizzle or wet undergrowth. Especially when you’re outdoors for longer periods, this is a detail you’ll come to appreciate.

Dimensions, weight and color – the hard facts

The Tragopan Tetras 500 V4 backpack comes in an unobtrusive shade of brown that blends in pleasantly with nature and doesn’t immediately catch the eye. Ideal if you’re into wildlife photography or generally prefer to stay low-key.

The external size is about 55 cm in height, 35 cm in width and 23 cm in depth. Inside you have approximately 53 cm in height, 32 cm in width and 16.5 cm in depth at your disposal, which is very generously dimensioned for long lenses and extensive photo equipment. With a weight of around 2.9 kg, the backpack is in a range that is absolutely reasonable for this level of stability and load capacity – not ultralight, but clearly designed for rugged use.

Who the Tragopan Tetras 500 V4 is particularly interesting for

If you enjoy hiking, spend a lot of time outdoors and regularly work with larger telephoto lenses, for example in wildlife, bird or sports photography, the Tetras 500 V4 fits this picture quite well. It combines the characteristics of a solid hiking backpack with the internal logic of a specialized camera bag.

You get very good value for money, plenty of storage space, a flexible interior layout and a carrying system that doesn’t give up after just a few kilometers even with heavy gear. And yes, you can tell that it’s not made for the desk, but for use outdoors – that’s exactly where it plays to its strengths.
