Innovative dual tripod-collar system for maximum flexibility

A key detail is the dual system for the tripod collar. The rain cover has two silicone openings, one at the top and one at the bottom. This lets you decide whether to use the lens handheld with the tripod collar facing upwards or mount it directly on a tripod without having to remove the cover.

The silicone openings fit snugly around the tripod collar and each has a small flap. The unused opening can be closed so that no water can enter. This allows you to switch effortlessly between handheld shooting and tripod use without having to fiddle with the setup each time.

Carry and shoot handheld

So that you can comfortably carry the camera and telephoto lens combination even with the rain cover mounted, a suitable screw is included. It is an imperial screw with a ring that is screwed into the foot of your lens’s tripod collar.

Secure attachment at the front and back

At the front, the Camshield L rain cover is pulled over the lens hood of your telephoto lens and secured with an elastic band. The elastic wraps around the hood and ensures that the cover does not slip, even in windy conditions. At the same time, the front element remains well shielded.

At the back, a special silicone eyecup ring seals the transition to the camera. This silicone eyepiece solution is simply slipped over your camera’s viewfinder and hugs the existing eyecup. This creates a fairly tight seal that keeps rain away from the camera body and especially from the viewfinder area.

Compatible viewfinder system and notes for Nikon users

The silicone eyecup is compatible with standard viewfinder eyepieces from many camera manufacturers. It can be mounted quickly and removed again if you want to work without the rain cover. The transition between camera and cover remains pleasantly flexible so you don’t feel like you’re pushing against rigid material.

For certain Nikon camera bodies, we recommend using a slightly thicker eyepiece type with an additional viewfinder attachment. Thanks to this extra thickness, the rain cover’s silicone eyecup sits even more securely and does not slip when you frequently move the camera away from and back to your eye.

Full access to all camera functions

On the back of the rain cover there is a large, soft, transparent window. This lets you clearly see the camera display, operate menus and review your images without opening the cover. Especially with modern cameras featuring extensive menus and touchscreens, this clear view is extremely helpful.

The material around the window is designed so that you can still operate all buttons, dials and switches. You simply press the controls from the outside; the soft material yields and reliably transfers your inputs. Your camera thus remains protected while fully operable.

Integrated rain shield at the front

Another detail is the built-in rain shield at the front. This small shield is attached to the front of the lens hood and prevents drops from above or from the side from entering the hood and splashing onto the front element.
