Leofoto LHC-50 quick release clamp with knurling

Leofoto LHC-50 quick-release clamp with knurled knob for precise camera setups

Sometimes a small component decides whether a shoot runs smoothly or whether you end up fiddling with your tripod again. The Leofoto LHC-50 quick-release clamp with knurled knob is exactly the kind of part that makes this difference. Compact, robust, and surprisingly well thought out when you take a relaxed look at the details.

Arca-style compatible for flexible system changes

According to the manufacturer, the LHC-50 is fully Arca-style compatible and therefore ideal if you want to standardize your existing system on a 38 mm dovetail clamp. The clamp accepts, without complaint, Flexshooter 38 mm dovetail, Leofoto dovetail, Really Right Stuff dovetail, Wimberley dovetail, as well as Kirk dovetail. This allows you to use various quick-release plates and rails without having to think every time about whether they will fit or not.

The 50 mm long clamping jaws provide a secure support for the universal quick-release plate and other compatible plates. Thanks to the screw clamp with large, ergonomic knurled knob, the plate is reliably fixed without you having to apply excessive force. Just turn until it sits firmly. Done.

Precise alignment thanks to integrated bubble level and scale

On the top you will find an integrated bubble level that helps you quickly level your camera. This is worth its weight in gold, especially for architecture, landscape, or when you want to stitch cleanly later. In addition, laser-engraved scale markings with a center mark are provided. The laser engraving is easy to read, and the scale helps you position your camera precisely and make settings reproducible, for example when you use series shots or recurring setups.

Robust materials: 6061-T6 aluminum and steel

No corners were cut on materials. The main body of the quick-release clamp is made of 6061-T6 aluminum, known for its excellent ratio of strength to weight. Durable, but not unnecessarily heavy. This is complemented by steel elements at critical points where maximum durability is required. The surface is black anodized, which not only looks classy but also protects against scratches and corrosion when the clamp is treated a bit roughly in everyday use.

Well-considered dimensions and weight for everyday practical use

Weighing only 92 g, the LHC-50 remains pleasantly light and does not unnecessarily burden your setup. The clamping jaw length is 5.0 cm, the clamp itself measures about 5.0 cm in length and around 6.2 cm in width, with a maximum external width of about 9.2 cm including the knurled knob. In short: compact enough for travel tripods, but large enough to be easy to operate even when wearing gloves.

Flexible mounting options on ball heads and other systems

The Leofoto LHC-50 was designed to convert existing ball heads to an Arca quick-release system or to adapt existing mounting systems. On the underside you have a 3/8" UNC photo thread available, so you can simply screw the clamp on. Alternatively, you can screw through from above using a 1/4" UNC countersunk screw or an M6 countersunk screw. The appropriate M6 countersunk screw is already included in the scope of delivery.

Very practical is the 18 x 22 mm, 5 mm wide mounting groove. This groove serves as anti-twist protection and prevents the clamp from rotating when mounted on compatible ball head necks. This groove really shows its strengths especially with ball heads from Really Right Stuff that have anti-twist lugs. Once properly mounted, everything stays exactly where it belongs.

Screw clamp with large knurled knob for secure fixation

The clamping jaws open and close via a classic screw clamp. The large knurled knob is ergonomically shaped so that you can still get a secure grip even with cold hands or slightly damp fingers. By turning the knob, the quick-release plate is held evenly and firmly in the 38 mm dovetail clamp. No wobbling, no play when everything is properly tightened.

Compatibility with common quick-release systems

The clamp is designed to harmonize with a wide range of dovetail profiles. In addition to the Leofoto dovetail, Flexshooter 38 mm dovetail, Really Right Stuff dovetail, Wimberley dovetail, Kirk dovetail, and other Arca-style compatible 38 mm dovetail systems will fit. So if you already use several plates, in most cases you can simply continue to use your setup without having to buy everything new.

Includes universal quick-release plate and practical accessories

So you can get started right away, a universal quick-release plate is included that is suitable for many camera bodies. In addition, you get a 1/4" to 3/8" reducer bushing in case you need to switch between different thread standards. A hex key and a multi-tool are also included in the package, so mounting and adapting to your ball head or tripod head system is possible without additional tools. This is particularly convenient when you are on the go and need to tighten something or reconfigure your setup.

Anti-twist groove for reliable seating on compatible ball heads

The aforementioned groove for anti-twist lugs is a small detail that makes a noticeable difference in everyday use. If you use ball heads from manufacturers such as Really Right Stuff or other models with corresponding lugs, the groove of the LHC-50 engages cleanly and prevents the clamp from unintentionally rotating. This gives you more confidence in your setup, especially at longer focal lengths or when using heavy telephoto lenses.

Areas of use from studio to outdoor

Whether you work in the studio, shoot while traveling, or stand somewhere in drizzle at the edge of the forest, the Leofoto LHC-50 quick-release clamp with knurled knob is designed for a wide range of applications. The black anodized surface is unobtrusive and hardly reflective, which is pleasant for video recordings or in sensitive environments. At the same time, the handling is designed so that you can quickly switch between different cameras or lens plates even in hectic situations.

Ideal for conversion and as a spare part

The LHC-50 is not only suitable for new builds, but also excellent as a spare part or for modernizing existing heads. If your ball head has not yet had an Arca quick-release system, you can upgrade it relatively easily with this quick-release clamp. This way you can bring older but mechanically still flawless heads up to date without having to replace the entire system.
