WWS camouflage tent (C30-E) for wildlife photographers & filmmakers Realtree Edge
WWS Hide Tent (C30-E) Realtree Edge, unobtrusively close to wildlife
Sometimes only a few meters separate you from the shot of a lifetime, and that’s exactly where the WWS Hide Tent (C30-E) for wildlife photographers and filmmakers in Realtree Edge shows its strengths. You visually disappear into the surroundings while deer, foxes or kingfishers simply carry on as if you weren’t there at all. Quite practical, to put it mildly.
The color of the tent is Realtree Edge. In some older images, the tent can still be seen in the Realtree Xtra camouflage pattern; you can recognize the new Realtree Edge pattern in the second image. This current design is specifically developed to appear as inconspicuous as possible in typical Central European forests, at field edges and in lightly structured terrain.
More compact than the C30.1 model, but fully capable for serious photography
Compared to the larger C30.1 model, the WWS Hide Tent (C30-E) is somewhat smaller. Not tiny, but deliberately more compact so you can transport it more easily and set it up even in tighter spots where a larger tent would already be a bit unwieldy. So you get a fully featured hide tent for professional wildlife photography and filming, just in a slightly reduced format.
Despite the smaller dimensions, there is enough space for you as a photographer and your equipment. Camera, tripod, telephoto lens, backpack – you can organize everything sensibly inside without feeling like you’re in a sardine can.
High-quality workmanship from Wildlife Watching Supplies (England)
This hide tent is manufactured by Wildlife Watching Supplies in England, a company that has specialized in equipment for nature observation and wildlife photography for many years. You can see that in the details. Nothing seems random; everything has its purpose.
The fabric consists of a robust cotton–polyester blend. This combination unites the pleasantly textile feel and breathability of cotton with the shape retention and durability of polyester. The material is rot-proof, breathable and designed in camouflage colors that blend unobtrusively into woodland and field environments.
The poles are made from highly flexible aluminum. This makes them extremely light yet surprisingly stable and resilient. Especially if you are out and about frequently, perhaps on foot with a backpack, you will appreciate this low weight.
Materials optimized for outdoor use
The tent fly is made from a sealed, breathable cotton–polyester blend in camouflage colors. It is designed to reliably repel moisture while still providing a pleasant interior climate. Especially during longer waits, this is something you only notice when it’s missing.
The tabs are made from high-quality nylon webbing. This material is hard-wearing, dimensionally stable and suitable for continuous outdoor use. The guy lines are also made of nylon and are designed not to fatigue quickly, even with frequent tensioning and releasing.
The extremely light, high-strength and flexible aluminum tent poles ensure that the hide tent stands stable while still being easy to transport. The interplay of these materials results in a system that is prepared for the rough and sometimes uncomfortable realities of everyday outdoor use.
Dimensions and weight, small when packed, large enough in use
The footprint of the WWS Hide Tent (C30-E) is about 1.3 m x 1.3 m. This gives you a compact but well-usable base area that also fits in narrower clearings, on stream banks or in dense undergrowth.
The maximum height is around 1.35 m. That’s enough to sit comfortably inside and work with a tripod and telephoto lens. You can turn, adjust, sort equipment without constantly bumping your head on the ceiling.
- Footprint: approx. 1.3 m x 1.3 m
- Maximum height: approx. 1.35 m
- Designed for one photographer plus equipment
- Weight: about 2.7 kg including poles and tent pegs
- Packed size: approx. 50 cm length and 18 cm diameter
When packed, the hide tent fits into a small, easy-to-carry bag. At around 50 cm in length and 18 cm in diameter, it can easily be stowed in the trunk, in a handcart or strapped to the side of a backpack. It’s not ultralight, but for a fully featured hide tent of this stability it is very manageable to carry.
Simple, quick setup without spring steel
This model completely dispenses with spring steel in the setup. That’s pleasant because you don’t have to struggle with snapping frames or stubborn pop-up constructions. Instead, the tent uses a classic, well-controllable system with aluminum poles.
To set it up, you slide the aluminum poles through the designated fabric sleeves and hook the ends into the brass eyelets at the tent corners. It sounds simple – and it is. After practicing once or twice, setup almost happens automatically.
This creates a self-supporting structure. In this state, the tent stands stably on its own and only needs to be guyed out additionally in severe weather, strong winds or very exposed locations. For this purpose, tabs for the tent pegs are attached both on the outside and on the inside of the tent. This gives you the freedom to react flexibly depending on the ground and situation.
Self-supporting hide tent for flexible sits
The self-supporting design has a clear advantage: you can also set up the tent where pegs can only be driven into the ground with difficulty or not at all. Forest floors with many roots, rocky ground, frozen soil – the tent initially stands stable on its own.
Only in severe weather, strong gusts or if you leave it unattended for longer periods do we recommend additionally securing it with the supplied tent pegs. The tabs on the outside make guying out easier, while the inner tabs give you extra options if you want to reinforce it from the inside.
Windows optimized for wildlife photography and nature observation
On the front there is a main window measuring about 35 cm x 26 cm. This main window is dimensioned so that you can work with a telephoto lens, zoom or even a somewhat wider angle of view without constantly bumping into the edges.
The front window is equipped with a fabric flap that you can open or close depending on light, weather and desired camouflage. In addition, there is an insect net that protects you from annoying mosquitoes and other small pests, as well as a coarser mesh camouflage net that further breaks up the outline of your equipment while still giving you a clear view of your subject.
On the sides there are additional windows measuring about 15 cm x 15 cm. These side windows also have fabric flaps and nets. They are excellent for keeping an eye on the surroundings, spotting movement early or, if necessary, shooting or filming to the side.
Pass-through for a tripod leg at the front
On the front of the hide tent there is a special tripod-leg flap. This opening is designed to route one tripod leg to the outside without having to tear open your camouflage significantly.
This allows you to position your tripod stably, operate the camera from inside and still maintain the closed, unobtrusive silhouette of the tent. Especially with longer focal lengths, where every small movement becomes visible, this solution is very helpful.
Rear door with hook-and-loop fastener and ties
Access to the WWS Hide Tent (C30-E) is via the rear. There is an integrated door that is secured with hook-and-loop fastener and additional ties. This combination allows for relatively quiet opening and closing if you proceed carefully.
You can open the door as far as you need – just a bit to slip in quietly, or fully to load and unload equipment. The ties help you fix the door in the desired position, while the hook-and-loop fastener ensures a clean closure.
Carry bag and everyday handling
When packed, the hide tent fits into a compact carry bag. This bag is designed so that you can stow the tent quickly and take it out just as quickly. In the car, in a closet, in the basement – the whole thing takes up surprisingly little space.
With a total weight of about 2.7 kg including poles and tent pegs, the package remains easy to carry. For short distances from the car to the location this is no issue at all, but even on longer walks, for example when sitting at remote waters or in mountain forests, the weight remains manageable.
Realtree Edge camouflage pattern adapted to natural structures
The Realtree Edge camouflage pattern is designed to make you visually disappear in typical European landscapes. It combines organic shapes, branches, leaves and structures with subtle color gradients that blend harmoniously into forests, scrub and field edges.
Compared to older patterns such as Realtree Xtra, Realtree Edge often appears even more three-dimensional and natural, especially in mixed habitats with leaves, grass and undergrowth. For wildlife photography and filming this means: you can get closer to your subjects without attracting unnecessary attention.
Who the WWS Hide Tent (C30-E) is particularly suitable for
This hide tent is aimed at wildlife photographers and filmmakers who are looking for a professional yet easily transportable solution. If you regularly sit in hides, photograph birds at feeding stations, mammals on game trails or shy species at waters, this model will fit very well into your setup.
It is uncompromisingly professional in its design without being unnecessarily complicated. You get a well-thought-out tool that helps you work more calmly, inconspicuously and with greater focus. And sometimes – we all know this – that is exactly the difference between a nice picture and a truly special moment that you capture.
