Connected - Straps for tripod, camera & lens
Somehow the camera gear has to be carried.
But how do you attach the camera strap to your camera or your lens?
Traditionally, a carrying strap is attached to two lugs on the camera; with heavy lenses, a carrying strap is attached via lugs on the tripod collar. This is often annoying, especially when working from a tripod.
On the other hand, there are sling straps that are mounted by screwing them into the camera body, the tripod foot, or the respective quick-release plates. If you now want to work on a tripod, the big screwing and unscrewing begins.
Sling camera straps such as those from SunSniper, BlackRapid, OP/TECH or Magpul are comfortable to wear, look casual and allow quick camera access so you can capture and not miss THE moment.
The simplest solution is to use a custom camera plate, an L-bracket, a lens plate or a replacement foot with a QD mount, which allows the strap to be quickly attached and detached. This system has proven itself, and photographers who use it do not want to be without it anymore.
Tip: Like all mechanical components, the Magpul adapter also needs a bit of maintenance from time to time so that the pins function reliably. We maintain our adapters with Ballistol or WD-40.
The principle of the QD mount briefly explained: the securing of the strap is done via the release push button; once the snap mechanism has engaged, it can only be released again by pressing the release button.
The straps from SunSniper / BlackRapid / OP/Tech can be easily converted using a Magpul adapter and sometimes a bit of tinkering. Often you only have to open one seam at the end of the strap and, after threading on the strap anchor, sew it back up carefully.
The Magpul QD Strap Swivel Adapter also fits sling straps from other manufacturers, whose strap width should not exceed 25 mm.
The Magpul adapter QD Strap Swivel D-Loop allows easy attachment to straps with carabiner straps (e.g. BlackRapid).
You can use the MagPul sling strap immediately – provided you have plates with a corresponding QD mount.
If, in addition to the camera and lens plates, you also own RRS tripods (from model year 2016 onwards), you also have the option of attaching a strap there.
RRS offers the appropriate accessories for the tripods depending on the series (Mk1 and MK2).
Leofoto also offers collar adapters with QD mounts for their tripod series.
The manufacturers Really Right Stuff, Kirkphoto, ProMediaGear, Leofoto and also Wimberley (partly) equip their camera and lens accessories with a QD mount.
On a sling strap with 2 Magpul adapters, this gives you a good feeling of security when transporting heavy lenses and ensures that long focal lengths stay in position better and do not swing around uncontrollably on the strap.
Our very special concern
The modular replacement feet and lens plates we have designed, which always have 2 QD mounting sockets, give you double security when carrying on the strap.
Sun-Sniper straps converted to QD
We offer you the Sun-Sniper straps One and Pro converted to QD connectors.
You can choose to receive the strap with one or even two QD adapters.
The version with 2 QD strap anchors is particularly suitable for carrying lenses with corresponding camera plates or feet with 2 QD mounts, or for camera-lens combinations where both the camera is equipped with a plate with a QD mount and the lens is equipped with a plate or replacement foot with a QD socket.
In these cases, you benefit from double security when carrying your equipment.
