FLEXSHOOTER Extreme, the very large ball head, 20 kg load capacity at 1150 g own weight

FLEXSHOOTER Extreme: Your Partner for Extreme Telephotography

The FLEXSHOOTER Extreme is the ball head specifically designed for photographers working with long focal lengths. With an impressive load capacity of 20 kg and a weight of only 1150 g, it offers a perfect combination of stability and mobility. Whether for DSLM, DSLR, or medium format cameras, this ball head is ideal for high payloads and demanding telephotography.

Innovative Design for Maximum Precision

Thanks to the unique ball-in-ball design, the FLEXSHOOTER Extreme offers both the functionality of a classic ball head and that of a telephoto head with leveling. The precise spirit level enables exact leveling of the outer ball, while the inner ball allows for panning and tilting without lateral tipping. The built-in counterbalance spring provides optimal weight distribution during tilting.

Compatibility with Leading Lens Brands

The FLEXSHOOTER Extreme is suitable for a variety of lenses, including Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony, and Olympus/OM SYSTEM. Popular models such as the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III, Nikon 600mm f/4E FL ED VR, or the Sony 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS find their perfect fit here. It is also well-prepared for Canon RF and Nikon Z lenses.

Powerful and Durable

Made from anodized aircraft aluminum, the FLEXSHOOTER Extreme offers a robust and durable construction. The 38 mm dovetail clamp ensures a secure connection with compatible cameras and lenses. The friction of both balls is separately adjustable to ensure maximum control.

Practical Usage Notes

Please note: The locking lever must be operated correctly. If the outer ball is not clamped when the lever is engaged, pull it out axially and turn it counterclockwise in idle mode. The lever should then re-engage and be turned clockwise. The return spring of the inner ball is designed for operation with a payload. Make sure the clamping profiles used are at least 55 mm long and that the 3/8" mounting thread is not stressed with excessively long screws.

Versatility in Application

The FLEXSHOOTER Extreme is not only suitable for telephotography but also for landscape, architecture, and studio photography. Its panorama-capable design and built-in 2-way tilt make it an indispensable tool for photographers who place the highest demands on their equipment. It is compatible with tripod systems like the Really Right Stuff tripod of the Versa Series 3 Mk2, making it a flexible solution for various photographic challenges.

Special features
  • Levelable 2-way tilt/tele tilt, your tripod does not need separate leveling
  • TIP: when using cameras with heavier wide-angle lenses, the use of a nodal point rail can be useful for ideal balancing. However, this should not protrude forward beyond the lens
  • The tilt of the inner ball forwards and backwards is absorbed by a spring mechanism
  • large, highest load capacity

note
  • ATTENTION: locking clamp lever. If the outer ball is not clamped when the lever is in place, pull it out axially and turn it counterclockwise while idling. Re-engage the lever and then turn it clockwise.
  • ATTENTION: the 3/8" mounting thread is 8mm long, if screws longer than 8mm are screwed in, the ball will be damaged!
  • ATTENTION: the clamping profiles used should be at least 55mm long and preferably also have safety stop screws on the underside of the panel!
  • ATTENTION: the return spring of the inner ball is designed for operation with a load, so the tilt and pan mechanism only works as intended when the lens is mounted on the Flexshooter.
  • ATTENTION: the tilt locking knob must not be tightened too much! Optimum clamping takes place well before this.
