Monopods with magic foot

Important note about the previous Monostat foot and its replacement

Everything that characterized the Monostat foot can also be done by this new tripod foot, and some things even better, since it was designed from the outset for easier mounting with a 3/8" standard thread.

What made the Monostat foot such a special tripod foot for monopods can be found in the following text:

Why this foot is a meaningful addition to the monopod

Sometimes a little more is needed to get sharp images with a monopod and a very good camera-lens combination. This is exactly where the Monostat foot (developed in Switzerland) provides the necessary stability, steadiness and, last but not least, damping comfort when shooting with the monopod.

Design features at a glance

The unique rubber foot construction from Monostat with the RS rotation stabilizer allows shooting at tilt angles of up to 60°, stabilization in vertical and horizontal alignment, and shooting on smooth surfaces (marble floors, ice, etc.).

Suitable for high-quality monopods

A good monopod, e.g. from Leofoto, Gitzo, PromediaGear & Really Right Stuff, simply belonged together with a Monostat foot, now represented by the SC-70 from Leofoto!

Leofoto monopods with pre-mounted foot

The Leofoto monopods, whose manufacturing quality and price-performance ratio we particularly like, were therefore offered with a mounted Monostat foot; these are now of course available with the SC-70.

Upgrade options for existing monopods

Existing monopods with a 1/4" UNC or 3/8" UNC thread could be retrofitted with a bit of skill using the Monostat replacement foot. Now the Leofoto replacement foot can be mounted on practically all monopods that have a corresponding 3/8" UNC photo-thread bore on the underside.

Important criteria for nature photography with telephoto focal lengths

  • stable enough for the heaviest telephoto lenses
  • tall enough for working in an upright position
  • fast and easy height adjustment
  • flexible from telephoto to macro photography
  • light and compact enough for travel
  • solid footing on both smooth and soft ground (no problem with the Monostat foot)
  • leg sections twist-proof
  • locking mechanism absolutely secure

Recommended additions for an optimal setup

There are two options for mounting the camera and lens securely on the monopod:

  1. Mounting a quick-release clamp on the monopod. Here you need to make sure that the quick-release clamp has a 1/4" UNC or 3/8" UNC thread. This allows the clamp to be simply screwed onto the monopod. It is also important that the knurled knob of the clamp does not collide with the platform. The clamp must therefore not be too small. The knurled knob of the screw clamp should be large and easy to grip and should close with just a few turns. This is particularly important if you want to mount telephoto lenses quickly and securely in order to capture the Augenblicke-eingefangen. As an alternative to the screw clamp, there are of course also lever clamps.
  2. Single-axis tilting heads offer more comfort. There are various models in different price ranges and designs.
  3. The Flexshooter Mini has proven to be particularly practical on monopods, because if you are already using it on a tripod, it can easily be used as a tilt head on the monopod as well.
  4. …if you want to switch the Flexshooter quickly from one tripod to another without screwing, this coupling is worth its weight in gold: QS-50!
