Kirk KLP-360 universal lens plate (91 mm) with QD mount

Kirk KLP-360 universal lens plate (91 mm), precise support for your telephoto and macro lenses

Sometimes a seemingly insignificant part decides whether your shot is rock solid or your setup wobbles nervously. The Kirk KLP-360 universal lens plate (91 mm) clearly belongs in the first category. You get a universal lens plate with a 38 mm dovetail clamping profile in a double design, made from robust 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, with a satin-silver anodized finish and additionally refined with Type II black anodizing. This combination provides high stability, a pleasantly unobtrusive look, and a surface that doesn’t immediately look scratched even after many uses.

The plate is universally usable, meaning it’s not tied to a single lens, but deliberately designed to securely support a whole range of common telephoto and macro lenses. A captive stainless steel screw ensures that nothing rattles or gets lost during mounting, even if you need to quickly reconfigure your setup out in the field.

Arca-style compatible, perfectly matched to your quick-release system

If you’re using an ARCA compatible setup, you’ll feel right at home with the Kirk KLP-360. According to the manufacturer, the 38 mm dovetail clamping profile is Arca-style compatible and fits a wide range of high-quality quick-release clamps: ProMediaGear clamps, Wimberley clamps, Really Right Stuff screw clamps and Really Right Stuff lever clamps, Jobu Design clamps, Acratech lever clamps and Acratech screw clamps, Markins clamps, Kirk clamps, as well as the FlexShooter screw cross clamp. In short: if your tripod head or quick-release coupling operates in the ARCA ecosystem, the KLP-360 integrates seamlessly.

The dual dovetail design gives you extra flexibility in positioning and makes it easier to balance heavy lenses. This allows you to fine-tune your setup without having to realign the entire system every time.

With QD strap anchor mount, quick transition from tripod to shoulder strap

Practical for everyday use: the KLP-360 features a QD strap mount, more precisely a QD strap anchor mount that is QD compatible. This lets you snap a suitable strap with QD strap anchors directly onto the lens plate and carry your equipment safely over your shoulder without having to install extra adapters. To use this mount, however, you need a strap with QD strap anchors, which you can purchase separately: QD strap anchors required.

Especially on longer hikes, wildlife sessions, or reportage assignments, this is a real comfort boost. You can switch in seconds from tripod use to carrying on the strap and back again, without sacrificing stability or security.

Made in the USA, solid manufacturing quality without frills

The Kirk KLP-360 is made in the USA and thus follows a very clear quality standard. The precisely machined 6061-T6 aluminum construction is designed for durability, not short-lived gimmicks. At only 57 g, the plate remains pleasantly light without ever feeling “cheap.” The length of 9.1 cm and the width of 3.8 cm are deliberately chosen to provide sufficient contact area for telephoto and macro lenses on the one hand, while on the other hand not being unnecessarily bulky.

On the underside you’ll find 3 x 1/4" UNC photo threads, which open up additional mounting options. This allows you to attach the plate to special rails, accessory mounts, or other systems if your setup is a bit more specialized. We’d say: more a tool for people who really use their equipment than a display piece.

Universal compatibility with Canon EF, Canon RF, Nikon F, Nikon Z, Sigma, Fuji, Tamron, and Olympus / OM SYSTEM

The KLP-360 is designed as a universal solution and covers an impressive range of lenses. For Canon EF users, the plate is suitable, among others, for the Canon EF 100–400mm f/4.5–5.6 L IS, Canon EF 180mm f/3.5 Macro, Canon EF 65mm f/2.8 MP-E, Canon EF 70–200mm f/2.8 L IS II, Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM, Canon EF 70–200mm f/2.8L IS USM, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS Macro USM, Canon EF 35–350mm f/3.5–5.6 L USM, as well as the Canon EF 70–200mm f/2.8 L IS III. So if you work with Canon EF telephoto zooms or macros, this plate will serve you very well.

Canon RF lenses are also covered: the Kirk KLP-360 fits, among others, the Canon RF 24–105mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z (2023) and the Canon RF 70–200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z (2024). This means you’re on a modern, stable footing even with current mirrorless Canon systems.

Nikon photographers are also well taken care of. For Nikon F lenses, the plate fits the Nikon 70–200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR AF-S NIKKOR (2016), the Nikon 70–200mm f/2.8G ED VR II AF-S NIKKOR, as well as the Nikon 70–200mm f/2.8G ED VR AF-S NIKKOR and its variants. For the mirrorless Nikon Z system, the KLP-360 is suitable, among others, for the Nikon Z 180–600mm f/5.6–6.3 VR NIKKOR (2023), which is particularly interesting for wildlife and sports photography.

There are also other telephoto classics: for Sigma lenses, the Sigma 120–300mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM is covered; for Fuji users, the Fuji 100–400mm f/4.5–5.6 R LM OIS WR XF. Tamron fans can pair the plate, for example, with the Tamron 200–500mm f/5–6.3 Di LD SP AF. And in the Olympus / OM SYSTEM camp, the KLP-360 fits, among others, the Olympus 150mm f/2 ZUIKO DIGITAL ED and the Olympus 300mm f/2.8 ZUIKO DIGITAL ED. In short: if you own a serious telephoto or macro lens, chances are high that this plate will be an excellent match.

Twist protection with variable stop lip, secure fixation even for heavy setups

One of the practical strengths of the KLP-360 is the removable lip with a 90° angle that provides optimal twist protection. This lip can be positioned variably, allowing you to adapt the twist protection or stop to your particular lens. The twist protection is designed to be variable, which means the plate is not rigidly optimized for a single model, but can be adapted to different foot shapes.

Especially with longer focal lengths or heavy lenses, this is worth its weight in gold. It prevents the lens from twisting on the plate when you pan, tilt, or move the setup on a gimbal. The result: less readjustment, more focus on your subject.

Lightweight, robust, and well thought out – details that matter in everyday use

At just 57 g, the Kirk KLP-360 hardly adds any weight to your camera bag, yet still provides a very stable base. The combination of 6061-T6 aluminum, satin-silver anodizing, and Type II black anodizing creates a durable surface that holds up even after frequent mounting and unmounting. The length of 9.1 cm offers enough room to precisely adjust your lens’s center of gravity on the tripod head, while the width of 3.8 cm provides a secure contact area without appearing unnecessarily bulky.

The plate’s universal orientation makes it a versatile tool that you can easily swap between different lenses and systems. Thanks to the three 1/4" UNC photo threads on the underside, additional mounting options open up, for example on special rails or in custom rig solutions. It’s this interplay of light weight, stability, and flexibility that makes the KLP-360 so pleasantly unobtrusive yet reliable in everyday use.
