Quick-Release Video Plate VP-210 with 2 x QD Mounts

Video quick-release plate VP-210, compatible with many lenses

If you want to use telephoto lenses on your video head not just somehow, but really cleanly and reproducibly, sooner or later you end up with a well-designed video plate. The VP-210 video quick-release plate is built exactly for this purpose. It accommodates a wide range of photo and video lenses and turns them into a stable, pleasantly balanced unit with your tripod head.

The VP-210 is designed to be universal and is therefore compatible with many lenses from different systems. These include, for example, Canon EF lenses such as the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II, Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro, Canon EF 180mm f/3.5 Macro, Canon EF 65mm f/2.8 MP-E, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II, Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM, Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS Macro USM, Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6 L USM, Canon EF 200mm f/1.8, Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM and Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS III.

The plate also feels right at home with Nikon F lenses such as the Nikon 300mm f/4E AF-S PF ED VR NIKKOR, Nikon 70–200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR AF-S NIKKOR (2016), Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II AF-S NIKKOR, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR AF-S NIKKOR, Nikon 200mm f/4 D IF-ED AF MICRO-NIKKOR, Nikon 300mm f/2.8 AF-S I NIKKOR or Nikon 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR NIKKOR.

Modern mirrorless systems are also taken into account: Canon RF lenses such as the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM (2019), Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM (2020), Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM (2020) and Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5 - 7.1 L IS USM (2020) can be mounted just as securely as Nikon Z lenses such as the Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S (2020), Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S NIKKOR (2021), Nikon Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S NIKKOR (2022) or Nikon Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR NIKKOR (2023).

There are also Sony lenses such as the Sony 70-200mm f/4 G OSS FE [SEL70200G] (2014), Sony 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS FE [SEL100400GM] (2017), Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM II [SAL70400G2] and Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G SSM II [SAL70200G2]. For Olympus / OM SYSTEM users, lenses such as the Olympus 150 mm f/2 ZUIKO DIGITAL ED, Olympus 300mm f/4 M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED IS PRO and Olympus 300mm f/2.8 ZUIKO DIGITAL ED are of interest.

Sigma telephoto and macro lenses such as the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM / Contemporary, Sigma 180mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO, Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM and Sigma 300mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM as well as Fuji lenses such as the Fuji 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR XF and Fuji 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR XF can also be used with the VP-210 in a practical way. In short: you don’t have to spend much time thinking about whether it fits, but rather which lens you want to mount first.

QD-compatible with 2 strap anchor mounts for double security

Two QD strap mounts on this video plate are not a nice extra, but a deliberate safety feature. The VP-210 has QD-compatible strap mounts, specifically: QD strap mount yes, two. This allows you to secure your camera-lens combination at two points, distributing the weight better and at the same time minimizing the risk of something slipping out of your hand when things get hectic.

This is a real gain in comfort, especially with heavy telephoto lenses. You can use the VP-210 as a stable carrying point and attach the strap to both QD mounts in order to distribute the load comfortably over your shoulder or body. To use the QD strap mounts you need a suitable strap with QD strap anchors. You can find more information here.

The two QD mounts also ensure that you can flexibly switch between different carrying positions without having to fiddle with the camera itself every time. More safety, more comfort and less hassle in the field.

Compatible with Manfrotto/Sachtler Video Standard

The VP-210 video quick-release plate is compatible with the Manfrotto/Sachtler Video Standard and can therefore be used directly on common video heads. So if you are already working with Sachtler or Manfrotto, you can integrate the plate into your existing setup without detours.

The VP-210 allows secure mounting of lenses on typical video heads from these manufacturers and ensures that your center of gravity sits cleanly above the head. This is particularly noticeable during pans and tilts when you are working with long focal lengths and every small imbalance becomes immediately visible.

With a length of 21.0 cm, you have enough adjustment range to balance your combination of camera and telephoto lens precisely. This lets you work more steadily, whether you are filming wildlife, sports or interviews. The anti-twist protection with stop prevents the lens from shifting unnoticed on the plate.

Upgradeable to a modular lens foot

A practical detail that is easy to underestimate: the VP-210 can be used in an upgradeable way as a modular lens foot. Using the existing slot, you can use a suitable lens base such as CaNiS-S or CaNiS-L with your telephoto lens so that the video plate itself serves as a replacement lens foot.

This saves you from constantly switching between different feet and plates. You work with a modular system that adapts to your lenses instead of the other way around. This is a real advantage, especially if you frequently switch between tripod and shoulder use or between photo and video heads, because you simply have fewer parts in your backpack that can get lost or be missing at the wrong moment.

The combination of modular replacement lens foot and video plate makes your equipment overall more organized and efficient. You mount everything cleanly once and then use the VP-210 as the central connecting element between lens, camera, strap and video head.

Best materials and manufacturing quality

With the VP-210 we consistently rely on the best materials and manufacturing quality. The plate is made from high-strength 7075 aluminum, a material also used in aircraft construction because it offers a very good ratio of weight to stability.

Manufacturing is done by precise milling, resulting in clean edges, exact fits and high repeat accuracy. The surface is finished with black anodizing, which not only provides a discreet, low-reflection appearance but also protects the plate against scratches and corrosion.

With a height of 1.0 cm, the VP-210 remains pleasantly slim without sacrificing stability. The integrated anti-twist protection with stop ensures that your lens does not slip unintentionally. The universally designed construction makes the plate a durable component that you can easily use on multiple lenses and systems without constantly having to look for new solutions.

All screws and tools required for mounting are included

So that you can get started right away, all screws and tools required for mounting are included. You therefore don’t have to rummage through your toolbox or order additional parts.

Included are a 1/4 to 3/8 reducer bushing, a suitable hex key and captive 1/4-20 stainless steel screws (2x). This combination allows you to attach the VP-210 flexibly to different lens feet and tripod heads.

The captive screws are particularly practical because they remain on the plate even during transport and don’t disappear somewhere in your backpack. This keeps your setup clear and ready for use, even if you frequently switch between different lenses or cameras.

Thought-out design for video and photo use

The VP-210 video quick-release plate is not just a simple metal plate, but a deliberately developed link between camera, lens and video head. It allows lenses to be mounted on common video heads and turns your telephoto lenses into a stable, professionally usable unit for video and photo.

Thanks to its universal design, you can combine the VP-210 with a wide variety of Canon EF, Nikon F, Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony, Olympus / OM SYSTEM, Sigma and Fuji lenses. The length of 21.0 cm gives you sufficient leeway to adjust the center of gravity precisely, which is crucial especially with long focal lengths and heavy combinations.

The integrated anti-twist protection and stop help you position your lens safely and comfortably on the plate. This allows you to use your telephoto lens with this plate as a lens foot and provides a stable, trustworthy base for your shots, whether you are working from a tripod or carrying the equipment on a strap in between.
