Really Right Stuff BX1D - quick release plate for Hasselblad X1D

Really Right Stuff BX1D quick-release plate for Hasselblad X1D, precise base for your medium format camera

Sometimes a small part decides whether a camera feels really secure on the tripod or only halfway there. The Really Right Stuff BX1D quick-release plate is made exactly for this moment: a custom-fit, form-locking camera plate that connects your Hasselblad X1D or X1D II 50C securely to the quick-release clamp while adding as little bulk as possible.

The BX1D is not universal, but deliberately designed specifically for the body shape of the Hasselblad X1D and Hasselblad X1D II 50C. As a result, it sits firmly in place, locks twist-proof with the camera base, and ensures that nothing shifts unintentionally when you pan, tilt, or work a bit faster with the camera.

Specifically developed for the following cameras

This quick-release plate is precisely engineered to fit the following cameras: Hasselblad X1D and Hasselblad X1D II 50C. No DIY solution, no “it’ll somehow fit”, but a plate that mates form-locking with the camera and body contours. This keeps the optical center of gravity where it belongs, and the camera sits securely in the quick-release clamp, even with heavy lenses.

Because the plate is precisely adapted to the underside of these Hasselblad models, you achieve a very stable, wobble-free connection. The camera is comfortable to carry, can be aligned accurately on the tripod, and can be released quickly when needed, without having to fiddle with it every time.

Arca-style compatible for flexible tripod work

The BX1D is fully Arca-style compatible and equipped with a 38 mm dovetail profile. This means it fits into Arca-style compatible (according to the manufacturer) 38 mm quick-release clamps and into a wide range of common clamps on the market. You can combine it, among others, with clamps from Really Right Stuff, Wimberley, Kirk, Jobu-Design, Benro, Berlebach, or Burzynski without having to worry about special solutions.

If you generally work with ARCA compatibility, the BX1D integrates seamlessly into your existing setup. You can find additional matching quick-release clamps and accessories in our selection of ARCA system components under Arca-style compatible products.

With QD strap socket for quick strap changes

A practical detail that you quickly come to appreciate: the BX1D features a QD strap socket, i.e. an integrated mount for a quick-detach strap anchor. This lets you switch your Hasselblad from tripod use to shoulder strap in no time, without having to loosen screws each time or resort to improvised solutions.

The plate is QD compatible, meaning you can snap in suitable QD strap anchors and release them again with a single movement when needed. To use this mount, you need a strap with corresponding QD strap anchors. You can find suitable straps and anchors here in our range.

Additionally, there is a classic strap eyelet in case you prefer to work with conventional camera straps or want to use a combination of both options.

Made in the USA, robust materials, precise manufacturing

The Really Right Stuff BX1D is made in the USA and CNC-milled from solid 6061-T6 aluminum profiles. Stainless steel components are also used wherever additional strength and wear resistance are required. The result is a plate that feels high-quality, withstands a lot in everyday use, and still sits cleanly in the clamp even after many sessions.

The surface is black anodized to reliably protect it against corrosion and abrasion. This finish ensures that the plate does not immediately look scratched after frequent mounting and dismounting and that it blends in visually with the camera design. In short: not a toy, but a serious tool for professional use.

Form-locking fit and thoughtful ergonomics

The BX1D is designed to close form-locking with the camera and the bottom of the body. This minimizes the risk of the plate twisting under lateral pressure or during panning. Especially with medium format cameras, which are often combined with larger lenses, this twist protection is a real advantage.

With a width of about 13.9 cm, a depth of around 5.5 cm, and a height of about 1.7 cm, the plate provides a stable support surface without “enlarging” the camera unnecessarily. The weight is only about 72 g, so your gear does not become noticeably heavier, while you gain significantly in stability and operating comfort.

Modular expansion: optional L-bracket

The BX1D has a modular design and can be expanded into a full L-bracket with an optional L-component if required. This allows you to switch your Hasselblad quickly between landscape and portrait orientation without having to completely recompose the frame.

If you frequently work in portrait orientation, for example for portraits, editorials, or layouts that favor vertical subjects, this option is particularly interesting. You keep the center of gravity above the tripod axis and don’t have to struggle with a head tilted to the side, which significantly increases stability.

Magnetic hex key holder for tool-friendly handling

A small but extremely practical detail in everyday use: the BX1D features a magnetic hex key holder. The matching key stays directly on the plate instead of disappearing somewhere in your bag. If you ever want to loosen or tighten the plate, you have the tool immediately at hand.

Especially on the go, when things have to move quickly, this saves you from searching for the right tool. It is a typical example of the thoughtful approach Really Right Stuff takes with its camera plates.

Technical data and compatibility at a glance
