Adjustable back length with four height options
On the X70 you can adjust the height of the carrying system. There are four height options, with a total vertical adjustment range of about 10 cm, roughly 4 inches. That may sound like a detail, but in practice it makes the difference, because the same backpack can work for shorter and longer torso lengths, regardless of whether the wearer is male or female. In the end what counts is: it fits more individually, and you feel that after a few hours on the trail.
Core Unit modular camera insert system for DV Core Units
The Action X70 HD uses the Shimoda DV Core Unit system, a modular camera insert concept. It’s compatible with DV Core Units in Large, Extra Large, and XXL. This gives you a ready-to-go solution for cinema cameras and super-telephoto lenses without having to improvise. Wildlife or sports use is an obvious fit here, because you can pack and protect a lens up to 600 mm with an f/4.0 aperture. Important so there are no surprises: the Core Units are sold separately from the backpack, so you choose the size that matches your setup.
16-inch laptop compartment on the back
On the back there is a laptop compartment that holds devices up to 16 inches, for example a 16-inch MacBook Pro. The dimensions of the laptop compartment are 27W x 38H x 1.5D cm. This is practical on the go because you don’t have to unpack everything just to get to your computer. And it stays close to your back, which simply makes sense for carrying.
Expandable roll-top access plus quick access via YKK SplashGuard zipper
The backpack uses a roll-top opening at the top so you can adjust the volume to your gear needs without the pack becoming too loose or misshapen. The roll-top area can be expanded by 7 liters. In addition, there is a YKK SplashGuard zipper on the top section for quick access. That’s worth its weight in gold when it starts to drizzle or when you need to get to your gear briefly in the wind without fiddling around. Quick open, quick close, move on.
Hidden compartment for tracking device
Shimoda has integrated a hidden sleeve for a personal tracking device. This way, ideally, you always know where your backpack is. If it does get lost, a tracker can help determine its location and recover your gear. The sleeve fits AirTag and Tile Pro devices.
