Shockproof insert for cameras and lenses

The Large Mirrorless insert provides shockproof protection for mirrorless, SLR and DSLR cameras and lenses. The insert integrates seamlessly into the side access of the Action X30 and Explore V2 30 backpacks and maximizes the internal volume for the gear of both backpacks. It also fits into every available Shimoda backpack and roller except the Explore V2 25.

Construction and system features

It has all the features of the Shimoda Core Unit system, including EVA-laminated dividers and side walls, a lightweight and versatile removable shell, and an aluminum frame for added rigidity and support.

Suitable camera size and recommended lens length

The mirrorless depth is ideal for mirrorless and gripless DSLR cameras with a height of up to 12 cm and lenses no longer than a 70–200 mm f/2.8.

Scope of functions and features

  • Mirrorless/DSLR body fit – Ideal for mirrorless and DSLR cameras up to a height of 12 cm. The reduced depth allows more efficient packing scenarios and results in a lower profile with the backpack. The mirrorless size fits cameras such as the Fuji X-T4 and the Sony a7 series, but can also accommodate the similar dimensions of the Canon 5D.
  • Quick side camera access – Integrates seamlessly into the side access of the Action X30 and Explore V2 30 backpacks and maximizes the internal volume for the gear of both backpacks. It also fits into every available Shimoda backpack and roller except the Explore V2 25.
  • Modular stacking – The Small Mirrorless Core Unit can be placed above or below additional Core Units to modularly increase the gear volume of a backpack.
  • Lightweight, water-repellent & versatile shell – The included shell primarily serves as storage protection for the padded Core Unit, ideal when the gear is at home and not in use. It keeps the Core Unit sealed and dust-free. Its additional function is use as a packing sack. You can fill it with clothing or other items and pack it into the backpack or roller.
  • EVA protective shell and dividers – Walls and dividers are made of EVA, which provides much greater protection than other PE foams used in most camera bags. With the EVA material you achieve greater control over the density and quality of the materials used to protect your photo gear. This means the walls are less bulky while still providing excellent protection.
